Quite surprised by that attendance. I thought they were really loud. Admittedly having a roof helps, but Id have guessed 2,000 plus.

From when we played in the Northern League last time at this level it was certainly packed full of big, strong, well organised teams. I expected Macclesfield to have a reaction from their manager leaving and Gobby Cabbage getting involved on the side, what I wasn't perhaps expecting was to see a team all over the pitch quicker and sharper than us and better on the ball. Getting called off at Royston and no midweek games it was clear we started quite slowly and really seemed quite rusty almost. That said Wynters header off the line and Miracle's save in the 1v1 it could have been us equalising before they scored their second.
Again, I don't think the plastic helped us, the dry surface seemed to take any pace out of the ball and i think we also look better on a well watered pitch where the ball can move quickly. Hopefully its a wet pitch at Redditch tomorrow!
I think the players were quite rightly unhappy after the game, but a game two days later is a great opportunity to right the wrongs.

3002 against Whitby last saturday, 2446 versus Basford tonight, I can't imagine many travelling fans at either match. 1500 odd when we took 400 with us. NO WAY .
