Again, thanks for the kind words. I know I go into too much detail at times, but I do enjoy the updates.
I love following this club right now. Everything just feels right.

I'm still buzzing from that win. It's wins like that, that make a successful team, not the 5-0 drubbings we can, and will, hand out.
We all know we have the talent to rip any team apart in this league, (and the league above, for me), but it's fantastic to see us battle and grind out a win in that fashion.
It's early days, of course, but the squad looks and feels more balanced and of better quality than last season.
Dare I say, last seasons squad would've gone on to lose that match, after conceding the equaliser?

re: last years team might not have come back after the opposition scored. Do you mean like Barnet, Maidenhead etc?

No I think he means games like Bedford, Corby and Cambridge in the Cup. Its a fair point. Some of the games last year, we folded after going behind or huffed and puffed . And as others have said, the Trophy run affected that. Not that Im not hugely proud of that team for that achievement.
Anyhoo. This is now. And it was a fantastic performance and result.

The Trophy run was excellent, as was the squad we had, but that was the 2019/20 season.
Last season, the one I'm referring to, was the 2020/21 season (well, it was supposed to be, before COVID ruined another season!), and for me, something didn't feel right with the squad. It seemed unbalanced, and reading between the lines, there were a couple of bad apples in the dressing room, who have since moved on. Whilst the talent was there, the team didn't seem together or fight for each other, like we became used to in the previous year.
This current group feels more like the brilliant 2019/20 squad, than the 2020/21 squad.
I was trying to pay the team a compliment, in no way was I criticising the Trophy run!

I know exactly where you're coming from. It's all well and good taking teams apart on our crown green bowls surface, but the success of this season more than likely come down to how well we do at places like Bedworth on a Tuesday night on their carpet bowls surface.
I've bored people to death with this statement but it'll be the most consistent team that wins the league, not always the best team!
(When I say consistent, I mean consistently good, of course. We're not talking Wantage-style consistency )

Just received this.
Glad we won or I’d have asked for it back.
