Very complete and professional performance imho. They offered little bar 10 mins in the first half. Thought their keeper looked decent but not a lot else to offer on the pitch. Very good and lively crowd too. All good at the Grove.

It was one way traffic for nearly all the game, but then they are struggling near the bottom.

Good play all round from the team and Cobourne could and should have helped himself to the match ball.

Their keeper was excellent and I told him so at the end. He was making his debut for them and said he was making up for the nightmare game he had when he was playing for Bedford here in the 5-0.

Their manager was cursing all of the first half, ranting that their defending was effing awful and how it was the same every effing week. Their captain also had a go at everyone whilst not setting a high standard himself, just as he did in the earlier meeting this season.

The top 3 played the bottom 3 today so it's 'as you were' even though Berkhamsted only won 1-0 at St Neots.

Magnificent. Total control from first to last. Certainly never looked jaded after the 2 big games in the previous 8 days. Simeon Cobourne is taking the plaudits with his goals but there were some other very good performances out there, for me McCone once again was superb and deserved to round it off with a good goal. Such a pleasure to watch, excellent lads!

Up until the Paul McCone booking the referee had had, in my opinion, a good game. Didn't get why he booked the skipper, thought it was a genuine attempt to get the ball. I thought Rob Evans, at wing back, had a great game with his pass selections and marauding runs, linking up play with the forwards, I thought he got Halesowen, on the front foot, many times during the first half. A professional performance as mentioned earlier and, hopefully, another winning streak.

That was completely baffling because he didn't give them a free kick, he gave us a corner!

I thought he booked him for the way he picked the guy up off the floor and back to his feet??
Baffling whatever the reason

BetVictor Southern League - Division One Central – Saturday, 7th March 2020

Halesowen Town 4 Kempston Rovers 0

Two first-half strikes from goal poacher Simeon Cobourne set title-chasing Halesowen on their way to a comfortable four-goal victory over second-bottom Kempston, writes DJ.

The game pitched second placed Halesowen against second-bottom Kempston and early play soon set the tone of one-way traffic as the Yeltz mounted waves of attacks to force a series of corners. Montel Gibson curled just wide in the 6th minute and his 10th minute shot was turned away for a corner. A 13th minute shot from Rob Evans was saved at the base of the post to earn another corner and two more Yeltz corners followed in quick succession. Sam Johnson finally featured for Kempston with a 25 yard drive in the 17th minute.

Kempston goalkeeper Connor Coulson was in fine form all afternoon and he kept the scores level after making a good save from Gibson with Cobourne’s rebound effort blocked after 22 minutes. Ash Sammons drove wide after 23 minutes and an Andy Parsons header was cleared off the line from Robbie Bunn’s corner a minute later.

The Walnut Boys finally cracked as the Yeltz took a 25th minute lead when goal poacher COBOURNE prodded home Parsons’ shot beyond Coulson. Persistent COBOURNE soon added his second goal in the 33rd minute when he robbed central defender Stefan Bailey and finished marvellously by slotting home skilfully past Coulson. Further home corners followed before the break with Parsons nodding wide and McKauley Manning shooting at Coulson from 20 yards out.

The Yeltz added two more goals after the interval to stroll to victory. At the start of the second half Robbie Bunn fired a 20 yard free-kick into the defensive wall and his cross was tipped over the bar by Coulson seconds later for yet another corner. Gibson then lashed wide after 49 minutes.

Visiting goalkeeper Coulson continued to atone for his previous visit to the Grove with Bedford as he clawed another Parsons header away from under his bar from Paul McCone’s 57th minute cross. Parsons was then on hand to nod clear at the other end from Cameron Hyde’s 61st minute free-kick.

Cobourne was denied his hat-trick by another splendid Coulson save after being put clear in the 62nd minute and Coulson made another excellent save from Robbie Bunn a minute later. James Bowen drove wide after 65 minutes as the hungry Yeltz searched for more goals.

Substitute Luke YATES eventually made it a deserved 3-0 when he wrong-footed goalkeeper Coulson by deflecting Robbie Bunn’s 72nd minute shot into the net. McCONE added a fourth goal with a great free header after he was picked out by Robbie Bunn’s 75th minute cross to complete the Walnuts’ whipping.
