3-0 flattered us to be fair. Once we reached that scoreline we cruised it but it was hard work getting there. We could easily have been behind. That said, if we can win games such as this it is looking rosy and we know better performances are in us. As long as we keep on Corby's tail and don't let them get away from us then we're in with a chance. Well done lads. Onwards.

Halesowen Town 3 Bedworth United 0

Halesowen moved up to second place in the table after man-of-the-match Robbie Bunn hit a brace as the Yeltz proved more clinical in finishing. But this was far from a run-of-the-mill victory as Bedworth missed several good chances and the home defence lived a charmed life at times.

Halesowen started on top as Rob Evans blasted a loose ball over the bar after Ash Sammons found Luke Yates in the 4th minute. BUNN then picked up a loose ball and lashed home to put the Yeltz ahead in the 16th minute with a good finish from 20 yards. With Halesowen pressing and enjoying plenty of early possession, Montel Gibson played a clever 18th minute pass through to Yates, but the ball was deflected over the bar for a corner.

As Bedworth finally grew into the game, Luke Rowe worked the ball over for Khaellem Bailey-Nicholls to turn well and fire just wide after 33 minutes before Bunn’s 25 yard free-kick was punched clear by Bedworth goalkeeper Dan Crane after 36 minutes.

The first half ended in exciting fashion after the Greenbacks were awarded a 43rd minute penalty when Ahmed Ali gifted the ball to Rowe and then brought down Rowe from behind as he tried to retrieve the situation. However, Alex Troke powered the resulting 44th minute spot-kick off the underside of the bar and goalkeeper Bradley Catlow grabbed the rebound. As the Yeltz broke straight upfield, Jamie Molyneux placed a low shot towards the bottom corner, but goalkeeper Crane tipped the ball around the post and Ali’s header from a 45th minute corner was then cleared off the line.

Reece Blackmore curled just wide and Rowe planted a 25-yard free-kick onto the top of the net as Bedworth looked lively and the Yeltz failed to get into their stride at the start of the second half. A 59th minute slip from Sammons let in Bailey-Nicholls but he blazed wide from a good position when a pass to Mitch Piggon seemed a better option. The Greenbacks should’ve levelled in the 65th minute when Bailey-Nicholls worked behind the home defence and crossed for substitute Lynas King to put the ball wide in front of goal.

The visitors paid the price when GIBSON shook off and side-stepped the Bedworth defence to bury his shot into the net from 15 yards out and double Halesowen’s lead after 68 minutes. BUNN then hit his second goal with a neat finish to put the Yeltz 3-0 ahead in the 74th minute after Yates found Sammons and he twisted to supply Bunn.

Bedworth continued to create late chances and goalkeeper Catlow escaped when an 84th minute shot from Ollie Mulders spun away from his grasp but Catlow made a fine save a minute later to keep out Bailey-Nicholls’ shot from the top corner. Bailey-Nicholls hit the post as the ball pinged around the Yeltz penalty area in the 86th minute but the hosts went close to increasing the lead with Yates blocked by Crane from substitute James Bowen’s quick throw-in as the Yeltz forced two stoppage time corners.

Thought there was a very flat atmosphere today despite a supposed 716 attendance, which matched what was seen on the pitch mostly.

Not the greatest performance today from us; we went 1-0 up but conceded another soft penalty which fortunately they hit the bar from but then had other chances to equalise. However we held out and once we got the second we got the foothold in the game and remained in control to get the third which killed the game off.

At this stage of the season though with the games coming thick and fast now a win and 3pts is the most important thing to keep us going on our way!

Completely agree with the earlier post by Andy... beduff were awfull for the first twenty mins but at only one bill down were all ways in the game and should have gone in level at half time, having missed a penalty.... second half possibility should have gone in front, having created three or four good chances and missing an absolute sitter.... great result, in the end, but never a 3-0 game... so something to take from the game.. when your on top, or opposition aren't at their best, they need punishing and the game putting to bed... because on another day two or even three points could have been dropped...... having said that...great to get a 3-0 result and the momentum- winning habit carries on.... well done and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all....
