Losing 2.0

Erm... I don't think Sam Pearson will want to see that goal again!

2.1 New Bloke (Oliver I think!)

Free kicked from Lait, dropped by their dodgy keeper who has only been on 5 mins!

Positives:

Lots of players got a run out who hadn't been available yet this season including Christie, Danks, Forde, Bowen, Oliver, and Lait.

Till looked absolute quality, his running with the ball, distribution, and decision making was excellent. I like the look of Kettle at centre back too. I think when Joe Hull returns we have the players to be able to play 5-3-2 with Green and the new left back from Stourbr*dge Oliver playing as wing back possibly.

In the second half in particular we looked like a team of strangers at times, but no surprise really with Bowen, Kettle, Thompson-Brown, Lait, Till and Oliver all in the team so it will take time for them to settle into the squad.

AFC Wulfunians were sharper than us, no surprise really as their season starts in a couple of weeks. No reason to panic, I thought it was a very useful workout and we're only going to get better and stronger as the fitness improves and the new and long term injured players get to know each other. Laity in particular gave us glimpses today of some of his skills.

AVFC's comments need little adding to them, as usual. Summed up nicely, particularly the mention of Till, who looks like an extremely good capture.

Despite the result and performance yesterday, it's extremely pleasing to see the number of options available to us, both in terms of players and positions. Sir John was obviously keen to try out a few new things, hence the striking partnerships of Danks & Haseley first half, followed by Lait & Christie in the second.

I really like having Forde in the team too. He's like a footballing version of Combo from This Is England, but has got real quality as well as being a tough tackler. :-[
