Re: Cambridge at Histon
For me, it starts at the back. We’re nowhere near as solid as we were last year- we’ve not replaced Piggott adequately, and the shakiness flows from there.
That said, I’m still confident that in three months’ time we’ll look back on this and ask what we losing our collective shit over. Or maybe we won’t.
We were bloody spoilt last year.

And for all that was poor, even if we’d made the first round proper, the restrictions would have meant it wasn’t the event it should be. I wouldn’t be distraught if we went out on Saturday either.

I don't think anyone is losing their shit. Reasonable questions are being asked.fairweatherfan wrote: ↑13 Oct 2020, 21:46For me, it starts at the back. We’re nowhere near as solid as we were last year- we’ve not replaced Piggott adequately, and the shakiness flows from there.

I agree regarding Piggott. But Ashmore and Evans were / are decent enough options at right back. One has recently left. And one is injured.
We do need a couple of reinforcments at the back. I would like to see a right back come in, and possibly another centre half. I'd like to see a back 3 of Evans, McCone and Parsons / Ali, with Bowen or Manning as the wingback options on the left.
We need to add another striker, too. Cobourne, Molyneux and Gregory aren't enough for the season. Two will likely miss at least the next few games. So we're desperately short.
We don't need drastic changes. Just a little adjustment. Let's disgard the players who are coming up short, and replace them with better quality - if budget allows.

Another major injury setback!
Am I too negative in not being bothered about the Trophy game next Saturday?
Promotion is the be all and end all of this season.
Puts tin hat on and awaits the flak!

Nor me. We really have got to start hitting some consistency once the league games resume though.fairweatherfan wrote: ↑13 Oct 2020, 21:50And for all that was poor, even if we’d made the first round proper, the restrictions would have meant it wasn’t the event it should be. Agree. But we need to start pulling our finger out in the league, otherwise we'll start falling behind. I know it's very early days. But 2 draws and a defeat, already, isn't a great start!lutleyyeltz wrote: ↑13 Oct 2020, 21:55Another major injury setback!

I don't even care about the Trophy on Saturday. I'd even be tempted to play the youth team, and give our first team the chance to recuperate and rest, in readiness for full concentration on promotion.

Forgive the turn of phrase, I just meant it isn’t the land of milk and honey as it was last year.AwayDayYeltz wrote: ↑13 Oct 2020, 21:53I don't think anyone is losing their shit. Reasonable questions are being asked.

Re: Cambridge at Histon
Would have to agree, and after the last two games i expect us not to get through on Saturday.
Injuries have completely destroyed the bedrock of this team and we are so disjointed at the moment. The problem is when the players do come back we have lost a lot of momentum and even with the full team still look a little shakey in defence.
