Halesowen Town 2 Coalville Town 3
Halesowen fell behind three times to be edged out by the odd goal in five as Coalville finally ended their six-game losing league sequence.
New signing Ethan Jones made an immediate impact in a four-goal first-half as he burst down the right in the first minute and his shot was turned away for a corner by Coalville goalkeeper Jamie Hannis. At the other end, Dan Platt saved Blair Anderson’s 4th minute effort.
The visitors took a 14th minute lead when a daisy-cutter from captain Steve TOWERS squeezed inside Platt’s post from 30 yards out. But the Yeltz were soon back on level terms in the 24th minute when defender Lee Torr was pressurised and caught out by JONES, who then produced a great finish to beat Hannis.
With plenty of chances at each end, Cleveland Taylor floated over a cross for Dan Creaney to plant a free header on top of the net after 31 minutes. CREANEY then regained the lead for Coalville in the 33rd minute by stroking home from the penalty spot after Marcus Poscha up-ended Nathan Watson down the left of the penalty box.
The Yeltz equalised again to make it 2-2 in the 38th minute after another superb 20-yard strike from Jones rebounded down off the underside of the crossbar and Daniel UDOH was on hand to follow up and smash home the rebound. Just before the interval, Halesowen forced five further corners in quick succession.
Towers had the ball in the net for Coalville again early in the second half from Tom McGlinchy’s glancing header but his effort was ruled offside and Kyle Dixon then dragged a 58th minute shot wide from a right-wing cross.
The home side had a great chance to grab the lead in the 63rd minute but Kyle Morrison headed over the bar in front of goal after Danny Bragoli flicked on a free-kick. Jones caused danger once more down the left three minutes later but was eventually blocked and John McAtee’s 68th minute shot was gathered at the second attempt by Hannis.
But it was the Ravens who struck an excellent 78th minute winner when WATSON burst down the left and finished superbly. The visitors played out the rest of the game with relative ease, although Bragoli nodded an injury time header just wide.
