Re: Skem
There is only one person at the club who will decide whether John Hill stays or goes and that's the owner Steve Lynch. No one influences him one way or another because John Hill and Matt Clarke are intwined into the club and it's more effort to get rid of them than put up with poor results and disgruntled fans.
There's also a rather cute "financial agreement" between the owner and manager that would be broken if John Hill were to leave. I'll leave you to think what that could be.

Re: Skem
No football club should exist where the manager can't be sacked, whether you believe in giving a manager time or not. And this manager has had plenty of time. If that's true, we might as well go somewhere else until it's all over because it's not our club or HTFC anymore, as a few have said previously. You still go because you live in hope of change, because you still feel Halesowen is bigger than the manager and a few 'fans' and that it will come through it eventually. But from what you say it appears there's no hope whatsoever. It's felt like the club has been hijacked for a whileWillyWonka wrote: ↑02 Apr 2017, 09:13There is only one person at the club who will decide whether John Hill stays or goes and that's the owner Steve Lynch. Match Report: Halesowen Town 1 Skelmersdale United 0
Halesowen took a huge step towards safety with a narrow victory over rock-bottom Skelmersdale in a must-win contest ahead of five consecutive away games. But Skem battled bravely and the Yeltz had goalkeeper Dan Platt to thank for securing all three points after making a fine 58th minute penalty save.
Chances were at a premium in the first period despite basement side Skem having shipped 107 goals in previous league games. Lee Chilton’s long range effort was gathered low down by visiting goalkeeper Chris Cheetham in the 9th minute before the Yeltz were forced into a change after central defender Jonathon Moran was unluckily stretchered off with a knee injury after 20 minutes. Nathan Walker then fired a 22nd minute free-kick from the edge of the area straight at Cheetham.
There was a further long delay of over eight minutes when a loose dog running around the pitch brought some light relief to proceedings, evading all cunning attempts at capture before Asa Charlton finally showed his pedigree with a superb saving tackle to catch the errant tail-wagger by the ears.
Towards the end of a dismal first period, Chilton struck another long range free-kick straight at Cheetham and Skem captain Phil Mooney struck just past the post in first-half injury time.
The Yeltz looked livelier at the start of the second period as Chilton fired across the face of goal without finding a final touch in the 46th minute. Substitute James Bennett-Tindall then whipped over a dangerous 52nd minute cross and the Yeltz finally forced the first corner of the game after 53 minutes.
Halesowen grabbed the all important 55th minute winner when Bradley LEWIS headed home directly from Walker’s corner with Steven Gillespie just unable to clear the ball off the line.
But the visitors missed a golden chance to equalise just three minutes later when Platt dived splendidly to keep out Gillespie’s spot-kick low down to his right after Gillespie was brought down by Ben Clarke brought in the penalty box.
On an eventful afternoon, the referee also suffered a jaw injury after an hour but struggled on to complete the game as a replacement official could not be found. As Halesowen sought a second goal, skipper Jay Denny hit wide after visiting goalkeeper Cheetham failed to gather a 64th minute corner and another shot from Chilton was deflected wide a minute later. Yeltz substitute Kartel O’Neill-Martin’s 74th minute free-kick was saved by Cheetham but the already relegated visitors finished the game strongly to pressurise the home defence in the last ten minutes.
Gillespie’s 81st minute shot drifted just over the bar and Skem then forced two corners before Steve Irwin struck just over the bar in the 87th minute, but the Yeltz held firm on an afternoon when the result was the most important statistic.

Re: Skem
I fully get the 'support your Club through thick & thin' been there, got the T shirt but what we currently have no longer feels like it's my club, it's nothing like the Halesowen Town I enjoy following and being involved in. IMHO there is more to the current toxic atmosphere that has (agiain IMHO) been deliberately created than meets the eye, I strongly suspect dark forces are at work in the background and we're only at the start of a very rocky road.

Re: Skem
Yes of course. And to be fair to me I have actually acknowledged many times that I have caused problems on here. I have never seen anybody from the other side acknowledge they have also done things and it's all been very one sided. Unfortunately, if you are supporting what is going on at the club, whether it's in your control or not, you are for want of a better phrase, 'guilty by association'. It's always we've got to come together, but why don't we try it a different way. Instead of us getting behind what they want, why don't they come together with us to do what we want and to get rid of the problems at the club? It works both ways. I've never referred to them as being toxic, and as most of them don't really know anything about me, it's not a fair representation of me to describe me or others as being toxic just because it suits their agenda. It's another way of just brushing things aside. How voicing an opinion is being toxic is beyond me

Re: Skem
I guess there are two ways of looking at this, football managers are sacked for many reasons, my question is will JH have delivered the objectives given to him at the start of the season, if he has then why sack him?WillyWonka wrote: ↑02 Apr 2017, 09:13There is only one person at the club who will decide whether John Hill stays or goes and that's the owner Steve Lynch. My main point is managers also resign, especially if they can forsee no opportunities for improvement in the following season, call it professional pride if you wish. Looking at the program yesterday the number of players used this season has been very high. credit to the management for bringing them in (some good, some not so, many on loan, others not). As the Halesowen News reported, frustration from JH when Slade moved on. Once more I do not know why he moved on, I can guess others may agree/disagree with my guess. Losing the better players for me has been a theme, if that is not not addressed, why would any manager want to stay ?

Re: Skem
During the dark days ( I think we're heading for dark days part 3) it was basically a war to rid the Club of Undesireable owners the fan base was mostly united ,there will always be some that can't see the wood for the trees but you can't legislate for that ,during a war there will always be some who 'abuse' what they see as the opposition, it's not right but s**t happens ,the current situation is different, the toxic atmosphere is a deliberate ( IMHO ) creation during what should be 'peace time' when the s**t hits the fan this time it will be interesting to see how United the fan base is or isn't and where any co-ordination comes from to turn things around.
Re: Skem
Just met a guy called Paul and his enthusiastic son Josh and charming wife at Halesowen Tennis Clubs open day.Paul and I agreed that
this forum is getting particularly toxic,we both thought a point against Skem is a great result and means we should now stave off relegation.
In order to back this up,I have now decided to pack up this forum for this Lent and til the end of next Lent which in the great scheme of the
over 35 years I have supported the Yeltz is but a blink of an eyelash
.It will be great to see some of the characters on this forum
imitate the forkawi bird and disappear up their own rectums once Mr Hill establishes the Yeltz in whatever division we are fortunate to be in
next season.Look forward to my next post on Easter Monday 2018 (if I'm spared!)
