When a team comes and parked the bus you just have to keep persevering .. and we passed the test with flying colours. I fear we may have many more teams visiting and doing that

Re: Biggleswade - MATCH ON
Hard fought victory that. Even against 10 men they made it uncomfortable for us. Deservedly though in the trying conditions the 2nd and 3rd at last came. Must have been difficult playing into that driving rain at times but we still kept trying to play a good passing game, credit to the lads for that. Reece Mitchell was given MOTM and I wouldn't argue with that, but there were quite a few sterling performances out there once again. Onwards!

Re: Biggleswade - MATCH ON
Southern League Premier Central – Saturday, 23rd November 2024
Halesowen Town 3 Biggleswade Town 1
In-form Halesowen reeled off a fifth straight league win to remain second in the league table, writes DJ.
Yeltz manager Russ Penn was pleased with a game played in the lashing rain “We needed to play to keep the momentum - when you’re winning, you want to continue. It was a really tough game today, expectation goes through the roof. We had to show quality; we’re looking good going forward at the moment.”
Halesowen dominated the first period and Biggleswade goalkeeper Jack Berman made a good 4th minute blocking save after Kieren Donnelly skipped down the left to shoot from a wide angle. Ben Cassidy’s 8th minute shot was then deflected for the first of two corners with the Yeltz well on top. In continued home pressure, Conor Tee curled wide and Jordan Ponticelli went close with the Yeltz camped in the opposition half.
Ponticelli had the ball in the Waders’ net with a glancing header from Cassidy’s 31st minute cross but his effort was ruled offside.
After weathering the early storm, Biggleswade settled midway through the half without troubling Dan Platt, but their resistance was finally broken just before the break. In the 45th minute Reece Mitchell collected a long ball and played the ball into Tee, only for Berman to save well again. But DONNELLY headed home directly from Tee’s corner for his 15th goal of the season to put the Yeltz ahead in the second minute of first half added time.
The task for the Waders became more difficult when Liam Andrews was sent off for his second bookable offence in the 51st minute. Halesowen initially made little headway against the ten men but finally doubled their lead in the 72nd minute when Berman saved from Tee down the left but PONTICELLI tapped home the rebound, scoring in his sixth successive game for his eighth goal of the season.
Josh Steele headed a 74th minute free- kick just high for Biggleswade before Berman tipped over the bar from Halesowen’s Tee five minutes later.
The Yeltz made it 3-0 when TEE smashed home an 81st minute penalty after Steele brought down Josh Smile. But Obidinma ONYEAGWARA claimed an 84th minute consolation goal for Biggleswade from the penalty spot after the ball struck Ryan Wynter’s arm. The game’s number of yellow cards hit double figures as Halesowen collected several late bookings.

Re: Biggleswade - MATCH ON
Very entertaining game in awful conditions. We totally dominated without creating too many chances. Quite a few excellent crosses put across the 6 yard box but unable to tap them home.
Good to see our front 2 getting the goals again and credit to Biggleswade for sticking to it. At 2 down with 10 men they could have just given in but they gave it a good go.
Only downer was the picking up of 2 silly cards. They could see what the ref was like so with us having such a small squad we dont need suspensions. Parker and Platt should have known better
Cassidy MOM for me
Onto now to next week and should be full of confidence of coming back with the points.
Well done lads

Re: Biggleswade - MATCH ON
I thought that it was always going to be a case of after the Lord Mayors show in foul conditions, on a pudding of a pitch and against a team that boasted four six foot plus henchmen at the back. A little frustrating in the first half with so much possession and little by the way of shots but we came through in the end and got a deserved win.

I actually thought they played better with 10, but then they had to try and get something out of it I suppose.andy wrote: ↑23 Nov 2024, 17:42Hard fought victory that. Re: Biggleswade - MATCH ON
I'm sure we'll look back later in the season and say this was a pivotal win. Difficult conditions, a stubborn opponent and a referee who enjoyed showing us he had cards! A great win now onto the derby! Onwards.......
