Didnt go tonight, so cant comment on performance, but that result is important for morale, even if it was a battle. Another defeat would have caused problems. Hopefully we can build on it.piearce9 wrote: ↑24 Sep 2024, 23:04I was pleased to see that team selection today - a part of me expected Russ to dig his heels in and persist with Yussef but KD as a lead striker with two in behind gives us much more threat. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best use of what we have right now.
Perversely, I thought shooting into the Shed End first half might suit us tonight. Early goals cost us a couple of times this season and I just felt like the first half was crucial tonight. As it was, we came out the blocks and the goal was richly deserved.
It got a bit hairy as the game went on and we rode our luck (much to Mini’s relief, I’m sure) but a good performance and definitely some bouncebackability after Saturday.

Will take the 3pts Harbrough not the easiest opposition but thought our defence was superb tonight wynter man of match for me. 2nd half though we offered nothing as an attacking unit to many long balls straight back to the opposition.

Ultimately a wins a win much needed after Saturday but when we have got players of some ability with a football i.e Donnelly, Parker , Manning there has to be a way of playing to try to find them and let them try and play a bit . On too many occasions the ball is just hoofed in any direction when there is no need .

Re: Harborough Updates
Great result…. Did we really deserve it ?? Overall thought they deserved a draw, on chances created…. They played some decent football, especially second half and missed a couple of sitters….. pleased with our starting eleven and everyone put in a good battling performance with great effort from all, just lacking in playing style and creating chances, especially at home….too much hoofing it up the pitch and sitting back inviting them to attack us …. With better finishing they could have taken all three points…. There’s not a lot of difference in all the teams in the league, this season, as our league position shows… but we need to be winning games more convincingly if we want to remain near the top… we can’t rely on luck…. Well done tonight, looking forward to a win on Saturday, and a little less hoofball and more on the deck football…..

Everything has already been summed up. 3 welcome points, but as HH says, we may have to put up with more of that I'm afraid. It's a shame because we do have the players to play good football on the deck. Can't have everything I suppose.

Shout to KD by the way. Showed the committment and effort that other 'strikers' we have should be aspiring to.

To be honest I thought we did really well against an awkward team comprising mostly of giants which a lot of Yeltz sides I've seen would have struggled with.
Should have been 2-0.
KD might need to chill a bit. That's two games on the bounce I thought it was going to be a red.

Re: Harborough Updates
A confidence boosting win for the fans as much as it was for the players and manager.
We were under the cosh in the second half as Harborough upped their game.
Mini should have put the game to bed and released the tension in the sphincter muscles of the home fans.
The fact that our two designated strikers(?) neither started, or took part says it all.
A light hearted suggestion was made that 'crowd funding' might be an idea to settle any unwanted contracts that hamper the club's ability to strengthen in specific areas of the squad.
Not a bad shout.
