It should be pointed out that the pitch was a great leveller especially in the first half when bounces and bobbles prevented at least 3 shooting chances . Wantage had upto eight new players in their team who ran around very enthusiatically in the first half but when they tired in the second half, we took control goalswise.

wise words from Kenneth ... This was not the same side that has been thumped by 7's and 8's ... the team sheet from their recent Corby match shows NINE changes and when we finally found a Wantage supporter (believe me that was harder than it sounds ) he hadn't got a clue who they were or where they had come from.
Also that pitch ... at what point does a referee deem it unplayable? ... must have been close yesterday ... hopefully we have come away without injury

Leading striker Montel Gibson grabbed a hat-trick as Halesowen reeled off a seventh successive victory.

A header from Andy Parsons brought a 9th minute save from Renell McKenzie-Lyle and Paul McCone was denied from a 14th minute corner.

However, Halesowen initially struggled to impose themselves against a much-changed home side on an uneven playing surface and it was rock-bottom but hard-working Wantage who almost took a shock 19th minute lead when goalkeeper Bradley Catlow saved with Bradley Singh free on goal. McKenzie-Lyle saved Josh Hawker’s 21st minute free-kick and saved at Simeon Cobourne’s feet two minutes later.

But the Yeltz eventually went ahead in the 41st minute when Luke Yates beat goalkeeper Renell McKenzie-Lyle to the ball, allowing GIBSON to slot home near the post.

Halesowen added four further goals against the Alfredians in a much better second half display. GIBSON cut in from the left to double the lead from a wide angle in the 55th minute. Lewis Wright then drove past the post and missed a good chance in front of goal after 61 minutes.

Simeon COBOURNE was on hand to tap home a third goal after 63 minutes and GIBSON converted at the far post from a long 72nd minute free-kick to claim his hat-trick with his 22nd goal of the season. Home substitute Richard Claydon netted after 78 minutes but was ruled offside and it was lively Halesowen substitute Jamie MOLYNEUX who turned home in the final minute to make it 5-0.
