The tactics were absolutely spot on but we also lived dangerously at times in relying on a defence, who had so far struggled this season, to mop everything up. Charlton didn't miss a tackle, brought out the best of Joe Hull and gave Morrison the confidence he needed as the youngster in that central 3. Griffiths had one of his best games as wing back, and Connolly, booking aside, was extremely efficient on the right both going forward and defensively.
Special mention to Platty in goal, he played really well, hollering at his team from the back and producing some stunning saves and regulation catches as if he'd been number 1 for months if not years.
We're not guaranteed anything, but at least we go into the Mickleover cup game with a bit of confidence and the knowledge that if the players put in a performance then they'll certainly be able to hold their heads up high which they haven't so far this season.
Hopefully he'll have Westwood available on Saturday as he allowed Denny more time to concentrate on his own game and not have to worry about others. If we manage to be consistent and follow this win up on Saturday with the same level of performance, Mickleover will struggle to work out why we were so bad at there's only 3 weeks ago! Fingers crossed that's the case...........
