Re: buxton away
Whilst the 4-5-1 might have stifled Buxton, and as much as I like Christie, playing him up front on his own is never going to work. He doesn't have the mobility to be able to perform the role effectively. That is not his fault and I wouldn't expect him to be able to. That's what I don't understand tactically.
I also noticed that the manager re tweeted my earlier post this evening. I find that very disappointing and quite unacceptable. Whilst the players might well play for the love of the game, we still pay a fair amount to watch them play and have a right therefore to express our views. Like I said about the referees last week, if they have to put up with the fans abuse then the managers and players have to accept some criticism if fans see something they think could be improved. It is a forum for people to express opinions after all. I accept people don't agree with me and that is fine, but I am entitled to my opinion just like everybody else

Sorry, but if you put stuff on social media, or the internet it is there for anyone to use and abuse as they see fit. Why is it in unacceptable that the manager retweets your forum comments? You claim it is ok to be critical of players, just like referees, well so is your opinion. John Hill is equally entitled to his opinion.Yeltz27 wrote:Whilst the 4-5-1 might have stifled Buxton, and as much as I like Christie, playing him up front on his own is never going to work. I honestly don't know what you expect to see from this team, a team (with respect) that massively over achieved in a division below and is making a bloody good fist of paying in this division. Buxton were many people's tips to win this league and we made them look very, very ordinary for much of the game.
The work John Hill and his coaching team are doing is remarkable. I would never ever, criticise the management team, they're doing a great job with the resources available to them. Whilst I would prefer to see Ben playing, I could fully understand the reasons why JH started with Isedyn today, his role was to hold up play and feed the ball to the runners from midfield. This of course, requires good ball up to him, which at time was lacking as the distance between Isedyn and the midfield was sometimes too much.
I think a lowering of expectations is required, we're doing pretty well, the payers are giving their all and we're getting good value for money. If the quality is the issue, maybe you need to ask why the manager hasn't got a bigger budget to the money people at Halesowen?
I'm really happy with the stuff I'm seeing on the pitch and am incredibly proud of the lads in our shirt.

So RAIDEN thought the tactics were spot on. WE LOST and their goalie never had a shot to save. Hardly spot on.

I base that opinion off the fact we went to a side sitting in second and restricted them to very little.KenR wrote:So RAIDEN thought the tactics were spot on. WE LOST and their goalie never had a shot to save. Hardly spot on.
I would say that's pretty much job well done. We were very unlucky to not come away with at least a point.
Sarge barely had a shot to save either...

Spot on mate. Couldnt agree more myself. I know for a fact also that John Hill would speak to any fan if they wanted to and take his time to talk to anyone about tactics etc. I suggest a few fans try to catch him after a game sometime.AVFCYELTZ wrote:Sorry, but if you put stuff on social media, or the internet it is there for anyone to use and abuse as they see fit. Re: buxton away
Good day out yesterday, despite the result and the M6 being a complete pain again on the way up. Little un enjoyed himself and was full of sugar, his aeroplane impression after Iyse had scored was funny. I thought we could have nicked a point but Buxton are towards the top for a good reason, they were clinical. The late arrival of the team due to traffic will have had an impact on preparation yesterday but we were not outplayed again.
However, some of us need to get some perspective at the moment.
1 - Fitness, Commitment and Desire are there to see for all, the lads have all of them in abundance.
2 - Let's not lose sight of the fact we are a newly promoted team, it takes time to adjust. The teams we are playing are a lot better than last season. I said at the start of the season that about 15th/16th would do me as it would be a good achievement, we are on target for that. Every set of opposing fans I've spoken to have said the aim is to stay up first season and build on it, they are completely right.
3 - We do lack a little quality at times but we are doing well with the limited resources available to us.
4 - We are being noticed by others as having good support, especially away from home. This lifts the players too.
5 - Tactics, I like the 1 up front but its reliant on midfielders taking a gamble. At home its easier to do whilst away it means we play on the counter. The consequence is that at times we don't create as much but can change it to 2 or 3 up top as needed. Timing substitutions is key. John, Trev and their team are doing the right things in my opinion.
Witton and Belper are now important games and will have a bearing on what's to come, 4 or 6 points will put us solidly into mid table, less than 3 will see us dragged into the group trying to avoid the bottom 4.
See you all on Tuesday as usual.

Re: buxton away
I hope John Hill doesn't take notice of unwarranted criticism. The majority of fans I speak to have realistic expectations and absolutely realise the top class management team (we're lucky to have Trev etc as well) we have.yeltz85 wrote:Wow, this forum really does amaze me.
We're very close to being a comfortable mid table team.
We're a good signing or two away from a team who can push for the play offs.
We would all pick a different line up but I can not argue against the sides John Hill puts out. The performances and the majority of results - he has been more than justified. Not that he needs to be justified after the job he has done and is doing.
