Re: Pre- Season Worcester Raiders
Great to be back watching the Yeltz again, even if it was only a friendly. A very entertaining game with both teams going for it and a great spectacle of 8 goals scored, albeit not from a defensive point of view. Nevertheless, a decent first runout for the lads with a nice mixture of experience and youth between the two sides we fielded each half.
I *think* the team was as follows (but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on any of this anyone.)
First Half:
1. Dan Whitehouse
2. Josh Ezewele (sub: Max Morris)
3. Josh Quaynor
4. Asa Charlton
5. Rob Evans
6. Dexter Dudley-Toole
7. Brad Birch
8. Nathan Hayward (?!)
9. Rich Smith
10. Matt Funge
11. Macauley Manning
Second Half (not sure on numbers)
Dan Platt
Joe Palmer
Dan Brookes
Nat Kelly
Kieran Morris
Macauley Manning
Max Morris
Tom Turton
Jamie Insall
Rich Gregory
Simeon Cobourne
Nice to tick a new ground off tonight as well, even if it is a rugby ground primarily. All very nice on the eye but very strange playing in a stadium of that size for that level of football. Only 277 there in a 11,500 capacity stadium with well over 200 of those Yeltz fans. Cashless stadium, buying your ticket from a box office, the ‘pour your own pints’ is all a bit fangle-dangled for non league football. Can’t see it taking off in the JG Lounge anytime soon.

Re: Pre- Season Worcester Raiders
I think it's fairly certain that Jack Holmes will be playing elsewhere this coming season. Given what I saw last night, I don't think that'll be too much of a loss and we've got excellent strength in depth and the U21s (and U18) that have made the step up are all more than capable.BartleyYeltz wrote: ↑07 Jul 2022, 07:15I take it with Holmes’s not being involved he’s no longer with us ?

Just to play Devil's Eggnog - really?
Jack is as talented a player as I've seen down The Grove in many years (when he's "on" at least) and we've never had a player step up from the youth or reserve teams in 40 years who has gone on to be any good.

Re: Pre- Season Worcester Raiders
Agreed, but in the “physical” games he does hide a bit. There are a lot of such games in this league, where the more “thuggish” teams can hide behind weak referees.YeltzDoc wrote: ↑07 Jul 2022, 12:04Just to play Devil's Eggnog - really?
