Re: Newcastle Updates
1-1.
Excellent play from Holmes, down the right. Put it on a plate for Gregory.

Re: Newcastle Updates
2-1 Yeltz. Jack Holmes with a great goal. Drilled low to the GK's left.
4 mins left. What a turnaround.

Re: Newcastle Updates
Worst performance I can recall under Paul Smith. I don’t think the lineup helped but there was a real lack of energy and leadership on the pitch and, to be quite honest, I thought we were dead and buried. Jack Holmes single- handedly saved us today.
Regarding the selection, I understand that Paul likes to rotate his team and that there are knocks and niggles that we don’t know about but that was not our strongest XI by a long stretch. Evo, Hawks, Hewitt, Holmes and Sim should all be starting - no question.
On the keepers, again, we know that Brendan’s our strongest option and he should have played today. The defenders don’t have faith in Catlow and it shows. Nearly cost us. I can’t understate how lucky we are to still be in the hat. Back to basics for the next round please.

Re: Newcastle Updates
Agree with the first bit but think Josh Hawker also made a bit impact when he came on.
Weird tactics though in the second half by a team from a higher league than us. thought they would come and try to get a second but from minute 46 just time wasted and literally played with 10 players in the box.
Only Jack was willing to take them on and that in the end was the way we got our goals.
Not too impressed with Gregory today but at the end we won and in the next round.
Hope injuries not too bad although Molly's looked like hamstring which could be a few weeks.

Re: Newcastle Updates
To be fair to Paul re team selection. If this game had come a few matches into the season we would have fully accepted a 'cup' team to have been fielded. If we cannot give ALL players game time they will not stay. They are all good enough and will all have a role to play during the season but I suspect we may see a totally different line up next Saturday.

Re: Newcastle Updates
They’re Step 4. Same league as Sutton Coldfield, whichever one that is. I don’t think Step 3 have entered the competition yet.
