Re: Spalding
Feeling dangerously positive about the new season.
Hopefully will still be feeling that way after Workington next week

Re: Spalding
Thanks to Andy for the updates personally I'd take a point next week at Workington this is just going on past history obviously. Looking forward to next Tuesday the first home game against Barwell where we should get something I would hope.

A really encouraging performance!
I honestly think that we'll surprise a few this season - including some so called Yeltz fans.

Re: Spalding
Let's not forget the standard of opposition...
But it's pleasing to hear we're playing some good stuff, presumably Graham Hyde's coaching is taking effect.
Glad to see Shearer on the score sheet again, he looks a good player.
This is a poor league we're in, so we should be expecting a play off push as minimum. Anything less for a club of our size should be questioned.

Re: Spalding
To follow up on Chris and Polls Workington theme I am not expecting anything. For me that is a bonus points game at the moment. We are playing the right way but it may take a little time for that to earn rewards at league level IMO. Workington away first game is a tough, tough ask. There is nothing pessimistic in me saying this because I have enjoyed what I've seen. The players that have been added look worthwhile additions and with a little time and continued insistence on playing football on the ground, we could be on to something. If Shearer can start putting a higher percentage of his chances away he will be the man for the job. He looks a good player but will not get anywhere near the amount of chances he is getting in friendlies once the season starts. It has been mentions that our good surface will benefit both sides, but it will mean we can adapt a style to play on that maybe 30 times and that can only be good. Only preseason and only against lesser opposition but please forgive me for my little bit of optimism. I just couldn't face another year like last year and I like what I am seeing.

Re: Spalding
Just reread my last post. I'm wondering if a bloke named Shearer with a number 9 on his back can put enough chances away. I've obviously lost the plot, OF COURSE HE WILL.

Let's be honest, if he puts away a high percentage of chances, he won't be at this level too long.
I really rate him - all be it only on the basis of friendlies against Bilston & Khalsa.
