A hard earned point in a fairly even match.
We scored a well worked goal after good work from Ben and Lait and had the better of things in the first half.
After the break they scored a very good individual equaliser and hit the post but we generally held firm. In the second half we didn't create too much apart from a free kick, until the last few minutes when, unlike other recent games, we finished more strongly and might have won it.
Lait showed his ability a few times but we didn't really get him involved enough in the second half.
No Macca nor Christie meant fewer options and also an incomplete bench.

Back from Rushall, blimey I'm home earlier from an away game than I am for a home game! Normally still in the pub at this time! Lol.

Anyway, tricky one to analyse really...is that 1 point gained or 2 points lost?!

I think based on the first half, or more precise perhaps first half an hour you could say it's 2 points lost. I thought we were excellent in that period, we played some fantastic stuff. There seemed a lot more energy about us playing nice quick neat passes and Lait in particular who in my opinion was our best player tonight was causing havoc down the wings with his pace and ability to beat players. He put in a fantastic cross for Turner who headed home brilliantly.

After that we sat back a bit and they came back at us, Sargeant again making a fantastic save. Although thought we should have ended the half with at least another goal as 1-0 is never a comfortable lead.

And so it proved as a lapse in concentration led to their equaliser. We had a great chance for the winner as their keeper made a fantastic save from Griffiths' free kick and at the end we were all over them with the ball pinging around the box but just couldn't find the winner.

So I think all in all, we had the chances to win and think we probably should have done. But Rushall are a decent team and its a tough place to come too, plus after 3 defeats in a row it was good to stop the rot and at least get a point on the board!

From what I've heard we played pretty well, and it would have made a decent highlights reel ;)

We move onto the FA Cup game now on Saturday, where we will be in attendance to cover the game. Hopefully we can progress through and get a video with a positive result!

I don't think we did enough to get 3 points tonight, but we certainly did enough to come back with a point. They hit the post in the second half and Sarge had to make a couple of fine saves, their keeper made a fab save from a free kick from Griffiths.
Our goal was great work. A great bit of chasing by the ever willing Ben, a great cross by Laity and fine header by Turner. As others have mentioned, Laity was probably the pick of our players, causing no end of problems with his running with the ball and pace. It's a shame we couldn't get the ball to him more.
As much as I like Hull and Tilt as a central defensive partnership I have to give mention to Kettle too, I thought he was excellent at the back.
Obviously the injuries to Christie and MacKenzie weakened us tonight with regard to options from the bench, hopefully we'll see them both available on Saturday.
An unspectacular point, but a well earned point in a difficult game, and something to build on. Well done lads

Yea true Rob, forgot about them hitting the post!

I think on reflection a point was probably about a fair result but I think looking back on the first half of the game, it was probably our best half of the season!

Thoroughly enjoyed tonight though. Another away ground to 'mark off the list' and like I said, a good hard earned point away from home. Need to start turning these 1 points into 3 though!

Roll on Saturday, would love a good FA Cup run! Up the Yeltz!

I agree fully with this. I wonder if the Rushall stewards have had their meeting yet! ;D

I obviously wasn't there last night unfortunately so can't comment on the game, but if we win in the cup Saturday then pick 3 points up next Tuesday against Nantwich at home, it will prove to be a brillliant point as it would have stopped us from our run of defeats and kick started our season.

I am sure that draw last night would have given the lads a heck of a lot of confidence which makes a difference, the difference between having a shot from 20 yards when in a yard of space or passing when not confident, taking that player on getting to the byline and crossing rather than cutting inside and passing, fine margins.

Well done lads and see you all Saturday !

Concerned to see Lait really struggling with what appeared to be injury in the last 10 after all our sub's had been used. Would be surprised to see him involved Saturday.

Much improved first half. We created more in the first 10-15 mins than we did on Saturday. The passing was good, the attacks seemed to have a point and there was more tempo in our play.

But again, failure to take chances cost us dear.

I think we played well enough, overall, to earn 3 points. We're not getting much luck or the run of the ball atm. It'll change soon. These players deserve some reward for their hard work.

I feel it's a good point. Any newly promoted team who play away from home should look at every away point as a good point.
