Re: Goole Updates
Good point maybe, but we slip to second. Belper now third courtesy of a last minute winner.

Re: Goole Updates
The next four games are absolutely the deciding factor in our season.

Scruffy game in difficult conditions with a strong wind. Neither side created much and 0-0 was a fair result.

The beer on draught was vile. The weather was bitterly cold. Their fans were, let's say, not the friendliest.
Very grim place.
What would it cost Mr Bloom to put in a decent beer in their shed house.

I did notice most of the locals were drinking bottles rather than draft beer, will remember that if we have to return to the Pleasure Ground - has ever a name for a ground been less appropriate?

I so wanted it to be the pleasure dome, but I think that was sticking up behind the main stand

Re: Goole Updates
Not long back via JohnC's limo. Thanks John.
What a dour, dreadful, miserable looking place Goole is. If a bomb dropped on the place it would no doubt cause thousands of pounds worth of improvements. The running track around the pitch did little improve the atmosphere either with Yeltz fans spread around the ground due to there being no natural meeting point behind the goal as per normal away matches.
Anyway, the game... It was blinking hard work. With a very strong diagonal wind behind us in the first half we failed to really take advantage by getting that crucial goal. Had we have got one, it might have been a case where we got 2 or 3. Not that I'm blaming the forwards, it seemed whenever got into a goalscoring opportunity either the ball bobbled on the pitch, a player slipped or we never really got that lucky break.
After half time, kicking into the wind I was worried we might be on the back foot for most of the half but we actually held out well and retained more territorial advantage than we probably should have. Forde was combatitive in the middle of the pitch but I thought our back 5 were excellent today. Although Sergeant's kicking was a little erratic at times he made two superb saves, one at the death to get us a point. A little credit to him on here wouldn't go amiss.
Today could have been a lot worse, but we've come back with a point, a clean sheet, and the opportunity to chase Coalville now which isn't necessarily a problem.
A big effort to get 500 people there next week to support the lads now...COME ON!!
