Re: Stratford Updates
We're third. We're not great but neither is anyone else. I expected us to lose today, and to be honest, I don't expect a great deal when we go away to anyone in the top half. But I still think we'll get in the playoffs.
It's anyone's guess what happens then, but without big investment, anyone who gets out of this league will struggle massively in Conference North.
But I don't get the apparent doom and gloom because we've lost to Stratford.

Re: Stratford Updates
Feeling very dispondent after today's defeat, by a much physically stronger team. I don't understand the tactics,.
It's blindingly obvious that we need a new striker, otherwise we can forget the play offs.
Sorry Russ but Cameron isn't the answer.
I feel sorry for Donnelly, who runs his socks off, with little support. It's short sighted to continue this way, just can't accept our inability to bring someone in.
Much too soft in midfield, yet we let Hayward go, still think he could do a job.
Think we have every right to feel frustrated, so have to agree with Rob.

I don't get the rush to get out of this league, as ive said on numerous occasions i didint think we would be up there mainly due to the physicality of our side. if we get bullied in this league we wouldn't stand a chance in National North probably 3 or 4 sides that play on the floor. Who ever goes up will come straight back.down

Re: Stratford Updates
TO BE OR NOT TO BE.?? That is the question ? If we want to win the league, or stay in the playoffs, we have to start playing football and stop all this hoofing up the pitch….even if new players, including a big striker, are brought in… we did it for twenty minutes at the start of the previous game and looked great …. We had Macone at the grove and know his strengths and weaknesses… did we try and exploit his weaknesses ? No we played to his strengths!!! Madness….. Even if no players are brought in we have to play to the strengths of the players that we have …. And watching that pub team football yesterday wasn’t…. Yes we’re third in the table, but won’t be for long and are lucky that teams around us are dropping points as well… it’s a very close league this season and just feel with a little investment, like a ponticelli , could be the difference between winning the league,or falling away…. As for crowds dropping off, you can go and watch good pub team football for free , up your local park !! Good crowd at Stratford yesterday 1400 + , swelled by a good Halesowen following … Penn needs to put on a show for them… or more will drift away … ALAS GOOD Football, we knew you well 🥲

Re: Stratford Updates
I think the 'rushing' is due to the volatile nature of this level of football in respect to players coming and going and changes to the squad. I think we have a very good side which obviously has limitations but if we didn't get promoted this season then decent players may leave and we've seen how difficult they are to replace given the Ponticelli situation. I couldn't make the away game yesterday so went with my son to watch Rushall instead. Despite their league position they look a decent side and this is mainly to do with loan acquisitions and the quality of the acquisition I'd down to the level they're playing. In short if we got up we'd be able to improve the squad that way. I'll watch them whatever division they play in and I think they've done fantastically well to progress the way they have but there's no doubt that promotion, if managed sensibly, no matter what squad goes up could only be a good thing.Dazzie76 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2025, 07:52I don't get the rush to get out of this league, as ive said on numerous occasions i didint think we would be up there mainly due to the physicality of our side. if we get bullied in this league we wouldn't stand a chance in National North probably 3 or 4 sides that play on the floor. Re: Stratford Updates
Why without a big target man ,let alone goalscoring centre forward , and with a forward line of midgets in Tee, Donnelly and Manning , kindly tell me messrs Whild and Penn, what is the logic of banging high ball up the middle or in from the wing. Against Bedford a , Royston h and Stratford it was all so evident and each with four 6 foot plus defenders . Completely FUTILE.
