Matchday Posters part XVII and a half

Been thinking today how we can get more people down The Grove and for me it boils down to displaying matchday posters (again).

I think it's fair to say that we're halfway through the season and it looks like JH has got something close to what he wants considering our latest performances (unless he says otherwise on the open forum on the 7th) and things aren't looking too shabby for Halesowen Town FC at the minute... apart from the attendances.

So, I've been thinking (thought I could smell smoke) - if, say, we get 200 Yeltz fans for a home game and every fan put up one poster each in a local business that attracts on average 50 customers per day over six days of the week, every person who sees that matchday poster is more people that actually live in Halesowen... (who needs Johnny Bud???)

I'm going to a chipshop, a hairdressers and a boozer to see if they'll display the matchday posters and I'm pretty confident they'll do it; if I can do it, you can do it.

It would be - and envision this - absolutely lovely to get 400+ down The Grove when the weather's better toward the end of the season due to us doing something about it and for the players to see the crowds growing again just think what that could do: surely we'll be in contention for the play-offs?

At least flippin' think about it...

Young fans like you are the future of this club the more you can do to encourage more young supporters through the turnstiles the better.

Ive often toyed with the idea of pushing for free entry for U12's. We very rarely get young supporters through the gate nowadays which really worries me. Teenagers and young adults are mostly drawn to the premier league/championship and not non league if they have never been before.

If we get parents to bring their kids they are likely to come again in future years as a paying adult.

What have we got to lose if currently there are no young fans coming through the gates anyway at the moment?

I usually bring between 3-8 mates with me, and spread awareness (i.e. twitter, facebook, general conversation ), so i'll do my bit for the future

I'd keep it as it is, because my uncle comes with my 10 year old cousin and he doesn't seem to pay £10 in total, but you never know, it could increase gate size.

Our problem is the "Kids for a quid" at the Midlands EPL/Championship clubs.
It's a difficult one because if you get a young 'un going to The Hawthorns or Villa Park one week and then the Grove the next, it's a no-brainer what they'll prefer.
The only thing we can do is keep pushing and promoting to get the younger generation interested.
When the weather picks up my 3 year-old will be coming to most games and he WILL NOT be going to any other grounds!

Not sure about the cost of doing this. But when the weather gets better why does'nt the ciub try running ad's in the Halesowen news. One of there papers goes through every letter box in Halesowen every week

Thats a great idea, but as you said it would be a bit costly
