Very sad reasons obviously. Just a massive thanks for the journey he took us on and all the time and effort he put into reinstating our wonderful club. All the best Paul in everything you do in the future. Thank you very much.

The right decision for both parties. You could sense something wasn't quite right with Paul in recent weeks due to his personal life, and as a result couldn't commit to this club 100%. Understandably so.

To walk away as he has done takes class, integrity and bravery, which he has shown throughout his tenure here.

The club was a mess when he came in, and he has transformed the feel and status of the club in the community (Karen and Keith, and others have contributed to this, too).

Overall, I'll look back on the Paul Smith era fondly, with some wonderful memories - the FA Trophy run the obvious standout highlight. Off the field his time has been a huge success, however, on the pitch I don't think we reached our potential. COVID played its part, but it all went stale for us, and we never quite reached the heights of his first season, sadly. But I value seeing crowds regularly topping 1,000 and the growing momentum we have as a club more than any promotion or title win.

I genuinely wish him the best, and hope he gets the help he needs, and recovers from the tough time he's had.

Nothing to add to that summary of Paul's stewardship of our club. A view that will be shared by many.
Those who have been through similar emotional traumas will understand that, at times, there are more important things than football.

It’s a shame that it has ended like this but think it is the right call for both parties to be honest.

I would just like to say thank you to Paul for everything he has done whilst being our manger, for bringing the soul back into the club, coming in at a time when the relationship between club, players and fans was at an all time low, and he has rebuilt that.

Look at the atmosphere now, it’s the best I have ever known in all the years following the Yeltz, he deserves great credit for that along with all the work he has done improving the ground.

Not to mention the memories he gave us, those away days at Halifax and Barnet will never be forgotten.

He may not have achieved promotion but the club is in a far better position now than when he first took over and for that I will always be grateful.

I with him all the best for the future and takes all the time out he needs to get himself back to where he was but it is now time for a fresh approach and new ideas.

A sad day if Im honest and I respect Paul for giving such an honest statement. A shame this is how its ended after a great period of optimism but family has to come first.
I hope he makes sense of everything.

Yes, all best wishes to him. He always comes across as approachable and personable too.

The club is in a more prosperous state than it was and the crowd interest has grown a lot as well.

Would be good if he could be found a 'backroom role' within the club as Im sure he still has plenty to give and support to this club
