Social media.....
....is killing us. I've always hated it and always will. Recently though I signed up to Twitter because it was the only way I could follow something. Although I do not post I've started reading a lot of what is on there. Complete and utter garbage, that's what's on there. Regarding our Club the amount of tweets from fans and players that would probably never be said face to face is astounding. People posting threats (veiled or not) when sitting behind a keyboard is pathetic. It's killing society and could kill our football club. I know the players are appreciative of our support and the majority probably take it on board when we moan. As long as the criticism remains constructive it is fine as we give damn good support when things go well. For a player who has been here 5 minutes to start tweeting that 20% of the fans are against the team and he 'knows who they are' is unacceptable. Before all this social media rubbish real conversations used to happen (Amazing, I know). People had to actually think how their words would taken and what response they might expect. These days, Jeez, just hide behind your phone and become Bertie big bollocks. What a fucking world.

Tiktoks ok, if you wanna mime to a song or do a silly dance.
I agree Andy. Its like inviting strangers into your life and having them watch you. Its been a problem for years. People you wouldnt speak to can spout their bile and everyone can see it. I think its very very sad.

Re: Social media.....
The thing about social media is it does drum up all these emotions and cause damage (to everything from a non-football club up to society in general) but in reality its all from a fairly small percentage of the population.
Someone mentioned today about how the atmosphere at the next home game will be "interesting" - my guess is it will be unchanged. The majority of the crowd won't have a clue what the statement was even about.

Yes thank god. The Jamie Molyneux thing wouldnt have happened without Social Media. Its probably being blown out of all proportion, with a tiny percentage of people.TractionJackson wrote: ↑22 Aug 2022, 16:08The thing about social media is it does drum up all these emotions and cause damage (to everything from a non-football club up to society in general) but in reality its all from a fairly small percentage of the population.

Re: Social media.....
I can't disagree, but that's today's world. Social media isn't going anywhere, and people need to learn to deal with negative comments, or don't use the platforms at all.andy wrote: ↑22 Aug 2022, 15:34....is killing us. Imagine if officials stropped off crying everytime they were told to 'fuck off, you're shit', we'd have no game to watch! I'm not excusing that behaviour, but it happens and is accepted (for want of a better phrase) and we expect referees to take it. I wonder how many times any player that was allegedly abused on Saturday during the match has shouted worse at an official themselves? You can't have it both ways. Dish it out? Take it.
Back to social media, and specifically Twitter - There's a block button and the option to report any content people feel ucomfortable with. If a player, or a fan, doesn't like what had been Tweeted at them, you simply block that person, and move on. Of course it's not acceptable or right, but there are ways to deal with negativity or abuse in an adult fashion.
Sending abusive DM's, cryptic Tweets, and the like isn't adult and doesn't help the situation, whatsoever.
We all say and do things we perhaps regret after a few hours, especially when alcohol is involved (I've been there myself), but surely we're all adults and should be able to apologise, accept apologies, virtually shake hands and move on.
The above is in relation to content I wouldn't deem overly offensive or personal, however, when the content does become personal (which I've not seen (I'm only on Twatter) especially recently?), then surely the individual can be reported to the club, and dealt with (banned) quietly, without dragging the clubs name through the mud.
Social media is a savage and unforgiving place. We can argue all day about the rights and wrongs of that, but ultimately no one is forced to use it. We all have free will.

Bloody hell Josh. For a bloke who Ive seen lob his hat on the floor in rage, you arent half constructive, thoughtful and well thought out when you post.
A bit like Karl Marx on page, and Groucho in person....*jokes!!
No it aint going anywhere, which is such a shame. All this technology at our fingers and its used like a monkey putting up a deckchair.

I nearly lost a pin badge doing that. I've not done it since, so I've learned from my mistake - I think!

After all the upset the last few days we’ve won, played well and moods are all lifted.
So Jamie Insall decides to tweet a zipped mouth emoji whist he’s presumably barely had time to undo his boots.
Not cool, not helpful.
