For the newer fans - and for those who may not have seen this before.
The present lights are now being revamped so I thought this video may be of interest.

They replaced the original ones we won in a 5-a-side competion in the early eighties sponsored by Thorn Lighting, I believe. Derek Dougan performed the opening ceremony bringing along a Wolves team to mark the occasion.
Did we sell the old ones on to someone else?

I believe that they went to a sports ground somewhere local.
I stand to be corrected.

They went to Leamington, and last time I went before the dreaded lockdown they were still there 👍

Great video, can’t believe I’ve never seen that before. I’d imagine that considering the floodlights are just over 20 years old that they were quite ‘state of the art’ at that time for a club and ground at that level, albeit we were at a higher level in those days.

Also nice to look back on how The Grove looked then, as that’s exactly how I remember it as that was the first year when I first started going down. What is the JG Lounge now being a refreshment kiosk then, the programme booth in the middle just as you walked through the turnstiles at the Hawne Lane entrance, and then also remember there being a caravan selling chips in the corner by those turnstiles too.

Got to say the place looks a lot better now mind with the improvements made over the years, which is all thanks to the great work done by the volunteers at the club along with the investments made by our wonderful owners.
