Platty's On Fire

For those folks not on Twitter, I thought I'd post this great stat here:

Assuming he features in this afternoon's game against Soham, today will mark Dan Platt's 191st appearance in a Yeltz shirt. That would move him up into 3rd place on the all-time goalkeeper appearances table, overtaking Danny McDonnell who made 190 appearances. For those interested, here is the top 5 as it currently stands:

Yeltz Goalkeeper Appearances
1) COLDICOTT, Phil. 335 appearances. 1971-72; 1977-78; 1980-86.
2) HARPER, Joe. 275 appearances. 1901-10.
3) PLATT, Daniel. 190 appearances. 2015-19; 2021-present.
= McDONNELL, Danny. 190 appearances. 1996-2000.
5) CLARKE, Tim. 165 appearances. 1989-91; 2001-03.

It really is quite an achievement to be on that list alongside some of Halesowen's finest and most beloved players. I would love to see Dan climb even further up that table, and I'm sure many others would too.

He's playing really well at the moment too. A worldlyTM a game.

I'd put him in the top 5 of "custodians" that I've seen. I'd probably go -

Danny
Timmy Clarke
Platty
Alan Pemberton
Nick Bussey

Honourable mention for Kevan WIlliams, for being the only other person to spell his name like the Grey Squirrel, and for breaking his arm by putting it in a cement mixer.

Trademark pending, some numpty on BCR.

Didn’t Tim Clarke play a single game in the 2010-11 season?

190 appearances (and counting) for a goalkeeper is an amazing achievement in recent times

Yes he did! A 4-0 defeat at home to Salisbury in February 2011. I forgot to include that in my dates listed above, my bad.

Can't argue with that top 5. May though put Platt above Clarke now.

Did Tim Clarke also play upfront for (part of) a game? I seem to recall he came on as a late sub on the last day of the season?

Might be testing the limitations of my memory but think it might have been vs Bedworth last game of the season at home. (And I think we lost too?)
