A pity that an excellent player has gone.

I must admit, I'm slightly disappointed at this news, as I really rate Sammons. But we are spoiled for choice in centre midfield, especially with the likes of Bunn, Hawker and Ali (each as good as, if not better, than Sammo), as well as the new blokes in Redhead, Mussell and Toby Scott. It's a positive to have such competition for places, and a privilege to be in that position. Sadly, you will see departures in this scenario, as players look for guaranteed first team football.

As Paul Smith has previous said, it's up to the players to keep him happy, not the other way around. No player is bigger than the club.

All the best to Ashley. I'm sure he'll be a hit, and smash it, whoever he signs for.

A good post, Josh, particularly as regards the manager's philosophy regarding players pleasing him and not the the converse opinion.

Unfortunately Josh you're absolutely right about players wanting guaranteed 1st team football every week. At this level I guess it's no problem for them to play for a 'lesser' club as they are not losing out much financially and get more of the game time they want. It's a difficult one for manager and players alike. On the other hand though, being a squad player and rotating with everyone else at a successful club brings trophies and puts players more in the shop window if that's what they are looking for.

While I agree with most of these comments, haven’t we been here before with literally the same player, with both sides having a big hug and then saying they’d learnt something? Seems a bit, well, odd, all things considered.

Must admit I'd forgotten that's he'd come and gone for a bit before - see this topic from September-November 2020

Said in post match interview that he ‘had some problems at his previous club’. Make of that what you will.
