Beneath that wiiiiiiiindooooooooooow...
What's the origin of this chant?
I'm sure I've read previously that it's was born out of fancy dress.
It made a welcome appearance yesterday!

I recall a particular end of season game at Dorchester with some impressive fancy dress, any pictures out there?

I attended with a Baggies fan (who was at college down that way), his only live Yeltz game & he still talks about it.

The 2009 remix “Beneath that invoice, there’s another invoice” was an amusing take on those otherwise dark times

Westy dressed as the said window, complete with sill and vase as I recall. I believe it was Dorchester mid nineties. We had fancy dress there several years on the trot. As for the origin, it was one of many from that time but who or why has faded from my memory. Doc or Kev or Westy or Ada or Poll or anyone else whose memory hasn't pickled since then will remember I'm sure.Seamus wrote: ↑01 Nov 2020, 18:30AwayDayYeltz wrote: ↑01 Nov 2020, 17:30What's the origin of this chant?

There are many photos out there of the fancy dress years, I have many myself. Unfortunately being pre digital age there are none out there in computerland.

If I remember correctly - which is unlikely - we were on the coach back from somewhere. Grant (who I have no idea about now) started a "shaggy dog" story that was something like
"Mario Lanza was at a fire at a sky scraper, starting singing endlessly 'and beneath that window, there's another window' and after about 2 mins it ended 'there's a door'"
Terrible joke, but from then on we started singing it and the rest is history.
I am old and we were drunk so the details will be wrong, but that's what I remember.
May or may not be related to the dressing up as a window of course.

There's a pic of Westy The Window somewhere - Andy? There was even a cat sat on the windowsill if memory serves.
I think Brother Pollard has it right, some Grant-based lunacy initially, with the later tribute from that other yampo, Mr Westwood.
