Hi there,

I work on the Amazon Sports show Back of the Net! We are bringing Troy Deeney onto our show as a guest this Monday which we are really excited about. We would love to speak to him about his early career and how successful his time was with Halesowen Town and the impact its had on his bright career. We are hoping to show images during his time with Halesowen Town to Troy, Crouchy, Bishop and Gabby Logan. Just wondering if anyone had any they would love to share?

Any help would be amazing! Feel free to email me or ask me questions below. Chris_lalousis@spe.sony.com

Thanks guys,

10 goals in seventeen games I recall. His fitness (through full time training), pace and power were very apparent even though he was only 17 at the time.
What was a shame was that as soon as he signed a full time contract with Walsall, they recalled him from his loan with us. At the time we could have made the Southern League play-offs and given Troy’s capabilities I have always thought that could have made the difference (I think he was recalled in March 2008). Had we made the play-offs that year I have always suspected that our troubled period of 2009-2018 might not have happened

Troy belied his young years and made an immediate impact as per this match report from his debut match

I clearly remember being impressed when he made his first home appearance 3 days later on Boxing Day and it was evident that Troy was destined for higher levels

The most memorable performance from Troy came in a night match down at Merthyr Tydfil, a place from where it wasn't easy to come away with points. He completed a superb hat-trick late on to secure a 3-2 win.

unfortunately for us 3 weeks later Troy's loan from Walsall wasn't extended and as Noggin says our play-offs chances were considerably reduced.
I make his record 8 goals in 10 appearances between 23rd Dec2006 and 20 Feb2007. A player who, for anyone who saw him a Yeltz shirt, will never be forgotten.

I clearly remember the game at Merthyr... what a player he was for us!

The Merthyr game was so close to giving us a brilliant headline. Had the hosts gone 2-0 up, DJ could have used,
“If at first you don’t succeed, Troy, Troy and Troy again”

I’m here all week, try the chicken.

Actually, we had fish and chips at Monmouth on the way down, I remember that clearly too

Very good. On a similar note, I was disappointed we didn’t get to dish out a thrashing on Tuesday, mainly because I had a “Thame Impaler” gag lined up

What's the reason for thrashing not happening do you think?

Is the start of a conspiracy theory or a genuine question?
