PS. Driving to Dover, St Leonard's, Gretna etc on NIGHTS seemed to make it even better. I believe it's called masochism.πŸ˜‚

Why oh why can't the FA help themselves and ultimately the clubs by regionalising the draw more than just North/South?

Kidderminster v York
Stratford or Mickleover v South Shields
Us away at Spennymoor
Hereford v FC United.
Darlington v Telford

Off the top of my head if they regionalised a section with Yeltz, Kiddy, Nuneaton, Telford, Stratford or Mickleover, Hereford, Stamford, Barwell, Gloucester, Oxford would have meant less travel expenses, the chance of bigger crowds (Ok maybe not in Barwell's case) and hopefully a little more interest. How many Yeltz folk will travel up to Spennymoor on 24th November (30/40?) How many might have travelled to Kiddy/Telford? 150?

A similar scenario with Marske, Blyth, Spennymoor, Darlington, South Shields, York... etc

Why can't the FA show a little bit of common sense and do their best to help clubs?

As long as the Premier League are ok though and Wayne Rooney gets his big day out at Wembley eh?
Because this is a national competition and just like in the FA Cup, the further you go, the less regionalised it becomes and the greater the opportunity of facing a bigger club arises. It's the kudos of going further in the competition and it's more equitable. Ensuring a set number of teams from smaller geographical areas make the first or second round proper could mean weaker teams getting through. Fans wouldn't be complaining if it had been York or Stockport or Darlington at home.

Also, only two of the ten clubs you mention were not in the northern section anyway, so it was just the luck of the draw that it's Spennymoor rather than Hereford, Kidderminster, Telford, or Nuneaton etc.

If we were lucky enough to win a couple more ties, then there is no regionalisation whatsoever; hence from last season there was Weston v Workington, Dover v Marine and Blyth v Bromley to name but a few.

Logistically challenging, but what memories.

Good job you don't follow Luch Energia Vladivostok. It's their turn tonight to make the THIRTEEN THOUSAND MILE round trip to FC Baltika Kaliningrad for a second tier game. Spennymoor, pfff, local derby.

Wasn't the reverse fixture a dull 0-0 draw

I've done Newcastle away on a school night. I thought I was hardcore. But now I feel like an armchair fan.

Well at least the away fans will be happy after a 2-0 win :)
