I believe i have at somepoint during the close season seen a comment about the pitch not being ready until so close to the season as to why we cant attract a local representative from a pro side. (Probably coupled with a large fee i assume). The last few seasons i have seen the likes of whitby and kings lynn attracting teams from Newcastle, rangers, celtic, az alkmar, legia warsaw, Middlesbrough and norwich etc. Could we be missing a trick? Is this sort of thing viable at halesowen, 4 games across a weekend in a mini cup? Our sponsor owns the Seria A side Sassuolo? Could we accomadate a side to star in a mini tournament. Could it bring good publicity, draw people down the grove. Would pro teams more willing to entertain us in friendly matches if they’d also be pitted against silimar standard/ stature of teams? Was only just a thought on a obvervation i have seen. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks HH, nice info. Rushall look as though they've had a good pre-season and are starting to emerge as people's "dark horses" for the upcoming campaign. Stour have had good results too albeit *cough cough cough* they've only played sides from lower levels.

What should the line up be for Lowestoft and subs?

Quite an interesting one this. I suspect most of the sides (if you look above) have maybe played one or two 'bigger' sides and the rest have been lower level or equivalent level from another league (I'm not working that all out!).
Stour have played no home games, and therefore no 'bigger' sides so to speak, and have played about the average 8 games, similar to our 7. I'd imagine all the managers at this level let the players pretty much have free reign on the early to Mid July friendlies, and then start the cull of trialists. Look at St Neots, they played their first four games against the 4 most local league sides at home and the best result was a 3-0 defeat. Not sure it will have helped the squad side of things, but obviously may have filled the ground up four times. It's also noticeable that alot of the fixtures are against Under 23s sides, or XIs............ As ever, I don't think Pre-season makes a jot of difference. It's good for fitness and possibly some tactical playing around and nothing else! It's also the first time in my 27 years of watching that, with holidays et al, I've not seen a single pre-season game. Colin's kept me up to date though :D
