Next years players

So with Lee Hughes the first to pledge his alliance with us next year. Who else would you like to see stay?

For me we must keep a good core of players. We defenatly need to keep hold of:
Platt
charlton ( his experience is invaluable)
Enock
Goddard
Poscha
Hughes ( obviously already signed now)
Morrison

Opinions ? Suggestions?

I think we will have to go a long way to get a better keeper than Platt. As regards all the other players, individually many of them may prove to be good enough in an improved team. Not too many of them though as we've already seen the result of that...

I'd keep Kelly & Ali.
Agbor, if he could show a bit more commitment.
Try and sign Agbonlahor. Probably a couple of levels below, but possibly worth a punt on the bench.

Platt
Ekongo
Asa (if he doesn't need a hip replacement!)
Morrison
Kelly
Goddard
Poscha
Ali
Hughes
Agbor

That’s a more than capable base to build from next year.

I’d be disapointed with mid table - if we kept those and added some more quality. We really should be looking for a top ten / push towards the play offs.

Josh you've just named the side that sits second bottom. We need a lot of changes IMO.

True, but it’s only of late that that’s been a settled side and they’ve picked up points. Agbor and Hughes have got goals, I’ve been impressed with Ali’s contributions. Kelly and Ekongo are two good full backs who, when allowed to go forward, provide excellent crosses. As you say, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better GK than Platt. I honestly believe we have the makings of a decent side.

We need changes, agreed....

but I feel those listed are decent players that would do a job in the new league we’ll be in.

We need two attacking wingers as we’re desperately short in that area and cover for Asa and Hughes, as surely they won’t manage 50 games a season.

Maybe I’m mis-judging the level we’ll be playing at, but we’re already at a poor level in terms of quality of teams we face, and I get the feeling the new ‘Midlands’ level will lack even more quality.

That's a fair comment that some of the players have only come in recently and we are better as a result but overall we are still struggling against the leagues worst sides. I'm with you though that maybe somebody else at the helm may bring out the best of what we currently have. I would still like to see a fair sized overhaul.
Will be interesting to see today if we can take advantage of what must be a totally exhausted Stalybridge.

With all respect to Stalybridge, if we don't have a convincing performance today then it will be an embarrassment.
