FA Vase win v Southall.
I wish I was alive to see our Wembley finals - it must’ve been special to see your home town at Wembley, especially the old stadium.
Any of you old folk got any stories of those days / that era?

Very brave question - this could go on for a long time!
Hard to believe now, but for that particular game we were slightly blasé about the whole Wembley thing, as it was our 3rd trip in 4 years and we were getting used to it. If I remember correctly we won pretty easily (3-0), and a massive proportion of the 18,340 crowd were from Halesowen (less of a day out from Southall which is just around the corner).
Truly the best of times, in particular memories like wandering around Central London and feeling like you know half the people there will never be forgotten.
The receptions back in Halesowen were truly remarkable too, with the whole town there to welcome back our heroes.
Interestingly I just got a reminder that it's also 4 years to the day that we got promoted at Belper. Probably the only day in recent times that's got close to those feelings, so just remember what that was like but imagine playing at Wembley in front of a crowd 10 times larger, and you'll get close.

Mangotsfield when we clinched promotion was 20/04/2002 according to
http://yeltzarchives.com - 16 years and a few days ago!
For me, that was a fun day but less emotional than Belper after all we’d been through the few years before just to keep the club going.
Be good to hear everyone else’s views though!
