No final rankings

It has also been decided that there will be no final rankings for this season, so there will be no champions, and relegants. Also the cup championships are no longer played. The next season everyone starts in the same class as at the start of the current season. A KNVB working group will elaborate on the consequences of this.

Blimey. The title race was hotting up nicely. I suppose neither team will feel cheated as there wasn't a clear leader. I can't imagine Cambuur and De Graafschap will be very happy in the eerste Divisie though. Very unsatisfactory outcome, as is ours.
I bet our lot wouldn't dare take the title off Liverpool.

I wonder if Ajax and Alkmaar will still be allowed to enter next year's Champions League if officially this season did not occur?

The KNVB has not yet made a decision about what to do with the remainder of the season. On Wednesday, UEFA and all affiliated football associations will discuss the situations that have arisen in the highest national football competitions. 'The results of that meeting are important to us because, as Dutch football, we want to be as unambiguous as possible with the other leagues in Europe, although this will pose a challenge in terms of regulations,' says the KNVB.

we await today's UEFA meeting

Website Dutch Football Organanisation ; By the way this is translated by Google , To much for me ;D

So maybe after 1 june they want to play Pro football again,

UEFA strongly urges to finish the season. - Photo: KNVB Media

The UEFA meeting on Wednesday afternoon has made the possible playing of the professional football leagues in the Netherlands a bit more concrete. After intensive consultations with, among others, all affiliated football associations, leagues and club representatives, UEFA strongly urges that the season be completed and that the schedule be aligned with the rest of footballing Europe.

This makes it clear what the international position is with regard to the resumption of professional football competitions, which were forced to stop due to the corona crisis. It is hereby stated that the aim for all competitions in Europe is that they are completed before 3 August. This means that the competition will have to start again in the second half of June. For us, the interest of national health remains the starting point, including that of our footballers, trainers, supporters and referees. In any case, we will only play football if it is safe according to the RIVM. Health is paramount, always and especially now.

Wide consultation
KNVB, ECV and CED can, however, further elaborate on scenario 2 mentioned earlier by us based on the session with UEFA; possible resumption of the competition. We will discuss this with everyone involved in broad consultation. As always, the findings and advice of RIVM and the government will remain leading. A lot will be discussed: safety, public or no public, physical strain on players, broadcast schedules and more.

Nothing can be said yet about the exact performance data. What is certain is that a period of training must be scheduled for the resumption time to be determined. In that context, it will be investigated whether, when and where professional football players can start their training safely and under certain conditions. We now assume that all sports complexes in the Netherlands will be closed until 28 April. That moment of start-up affects the date on which professional football can then start again.

Scenario 3
It goes without saying that we are also working on scenario 3, the permanent discontinuation of the competitions. All consequences, such as the financial impact of this, are currently being mapped out. In addition, football is looking together for a plan to help the professional football clubs in this immense problem, should the current competition be canceled.

Apart from details about the remaining league program, there are still many questions at UEFA (and FIFA), especially about player contracts and transfers that will expire on 1 July. UEFA will return to these issues, including in a general meeting scheduled for mid-April.

We understand that questions and answers remain. We think so too. But we are working hard to provide even more clarity in the short term.

The Belgian Pro-league has been cancelled with current league position to stand.

There was only one game of the regular season left to play, top spot was already won but other top positions and relegation was still to be decided...
