Fund Raising Is Just Giving The Answer??

Hello everybody

I am a long term supporter and long term reader of this site, but I have only recently registered and able to post.

I think its a shame of what's happened to the club in recent seasons and certainly only want what is best for the club. I was at the recent Nantwich Town game and it made me sad to see just 300 people there for a Saturday fixture.

I have seen the attempts at raising funds via just giving but I am not sure this is the answer.

Why should the supporters give someone else money to purchase the club, or to put another way, why should someone receive an asset of £50k when only putting £20k in themselves. If someone asked you to give them money so they could purchase a car that you would have no control over, would you do it?

Could I not float the idea, even just for a discussion that people can purchase part of the club in a form on a consortium. For example if 60 people put in £500 each to be part owners that would raise the £30k required which would add to the £20k that Colin and Karen would put up.

Then people are actually getting something for their money and would increase the likelihood of getting Halesowen back on track. I wouldn't object to anyone owning 51% of the club and the consortium the rest if that was an option.

I don't go to every game but when I do I see various people such as Accountants, Lawyers, Policeman etc that could bring something to the table as far as experience and governance that our clubs need and would be great as part of the consortium.

I would be interested in peoples views and please I hope you read this the way it was intended and that is to support Halesowen with my heart and not pointing a negative finger at anybody.

Yours Truly

Rusty

On this particular part I think you're missing the point. Apart from the fact that Karen/Colin have probably put in nigh on £50k worth ALREADY just to keep us afloat, the money being raised is to purchase the club off the current owner. As an asset it's worth nowhere near that amount.

In other words this is costing all of us what bits we can afford and them a small fortune. It's the only way to rid us of the current owner and keep us playing at this level.

Think it may be a bit academic now. Without knowing what's been raised so far privately it doesn't look like we're going to reach anywhere near the target. So what happens now? Do we say here's what we've got take it or leave it or is there a plan B other than administration. Maybe fund raising events, who knows. Worrying times.

Thank you for your replies, I really appreciate the time it takes

I wanted my message to focus more on changing tactics in order to achieve the £30k rather than the issue ofgiving people money to buy the club.

I wanted to give my since apologies if it came across as me pointing a negative finger at anyone.

I agree with Yeltz64 when he says that looking at the current justgiving total that we will not get a figure that comes even close to that.

What do people think about the idea of a consortium of 60 fans contributing £500 each to own 1% of the club each, with the remaining 40% going to a major shareholder.

I just thought having these local fans on board could help with the governance and financial planning for the club especially if they had personally invested in the club themselves.

Be nice to see peoples thoughts

Yours truly

Rusty

In principle it sounds great. I guess though there may not be anywhere near 60 fans can afford to splash out £500. I would also expect that once you became a part owner you would be putting your hand back in your pocket regularly to keep the club running.

From my point of view, I have to say that I would rather go into administration and start afresh in lower levels than give the Lynch anything other than what he paid for the club, but then I realise that Karen and Colin would also lose out on the considerable amount of monies they have already invested. TRICKY ONE. I also have to say that I would be loathe to invest any money into the club whilst Bill Williams has ANY involvement.

I appreciate everything Karen and Colin have done and are doing, but I can’t help but feel there is no fight in the club anymore. It’s just apathetic at the moment. Generally our fans have had enough and given up. We can’t be blamed.

Hi Everybody

I don't think my ideas going to take off, and since we only have £2,500 in the just giving pot it looks like administration for us.

How many leagues lower would we be looking at being demoted, if this was the case?

Is it possible the club could fold completely all together?

Who would be the owners after administration?

I believe your first question came up at the forum and it's not entirely clear as the upcoming league restructure confuses things. Assume either 2 or 3 demotions, so most certainly we'd be at a regional level.

In answer to your second question: yes.

What happens after this point is anyone's guess- I know there was the assumption that the crowdfunding monies would be put towards rebuilding the club if we went through administration or liquidation.

It's worth saying also that even if the full amount does get raised, there are still no guarantees as it all comes down to the current owner(s) and their own interpretation of the club's assets and value.
