The Alfie Lund Fund

Post by RobYeltz » 22 Mar 2016, 18:19

Evening all, with derby day approaching I thought I would mention to you all that there will be two special guests for the game. One of them will be Alfie Lund, this is what it says on his website;

My name is Alfie, i am 6 years old and suffer from a rare chromosome disorder called MECP2 Duplication syndrome.

Alfie can not walk or talk, has profound and multiple learning difficulties, suffers from recurrent chest infections and has had two bouts of serious pneumonia due to a weakened immune system.

He can not dress or feed himself, may develop epilepsy, suffers from severe constipation and reflux, has autisic traits and will almost certainly have a shortened life expectancy. Despite all that he is the most amazing little boy who takes life in his stride, he smiles and laughs and has just learnt how to give hugs. He is an inspirational little boy who just happens to need lots of help along the way .

My family fund raise for me because I need specialist equipment to make my life more comfortable.

Alfie and his family travel the country raising awareness of his condition and through this they found a local family with a young lad James who has the same condition. They will both be at the game on Monday. James has actually has a history of Yeltz family members actually playing for the club.

The Lund family bring with them to every game a large selection of the scarves, flags and shirts that people donate, - please do take a look on their website. They too will on display at the game.

It would be great to have Yeltz and Stour fans donating their old scarves, shirts and flags to their course as well as give them a great Black Country welcome. Alfie has already had a great day at Stour and they gave him a great day at Amblecote and we'd like to do the same from this end of the No9.

Please do give them a friendly welcome on Monday, donate a scarf or shirt if you can but most importantly spend a few minutes to read up on Alfie's condition.

It would be fabulous to show the non league circuit how both clubs can come together to support not just a local family for James, but also Alfie too.

Thanks to Yeltz and Stour fans, the players and management of both teams for making Alfie feel welcome at The Grove today. The Friends of the Grove Supporters Association will be topping up the £121 donations to £150. Thanks to those who donated shirts, scarves and flags. Thanks again.
