6th August in the JG Lounge. Free entry and the chance to ask John Hill, Matty Clarke and Colin Brookes any questions relating to the squad and the club. Gutted I'll be away!

Re: Fans forum...
Will the owner be there?
If he is attending, will he be taking questions?
As he holds the purse strings, I would have thought his attendance would be very useful.
It would give us an insight into how he sees the club progressing, any investments being made, and the state of the clubs finances.
If he isn't going to be there, is there a reason he can't make it?

Do owners of any club attend these kind of evenings to discuss club finances?serpentoflight wrote:Will the owner be there?

I've been involved with many clubs both League and Non-league and have never known an owner come out and openly discuss the financial side of the club.

Some time ago, Mark Serrell, at that time a Director of HTFC gave a public presentation which very clearly laid out both the outgoings and income of the club at the time. It was most illuminating.

General Charles C Krulak senior director of Aston Villa used to be open to financial questions in regular Q&A sessions with fans. While he wouldnt talk detailed Pounds and Pence, he would answer general questions on budgets, ambitions and his own role in the club.
I'd be interested in the ower's reflections on how he sees his time at HTFC has gone. whats going right, what he wants to improve, how the fans can help and where he sees us in 2/5/10 years time. This is all postitive stuff, and would make (some) us all feel 'closer' to the working of the club.
An informed fan is a happy(er) fan.

Merely playing devils advocate here, but the bullshit PR spin of the 'Proud History - Bright Future' was soon seen through and General Krulak threw his teddies out of the pram and disappeared almost off the face of the earth, that until he became a President of a university spouting the very same 'Proud History - Bright Future' slogan.serpentoflight wrote:General Charles C Krulak senior director of Aston Villa used to be open to financial questions in regular Q&A sessions with fans. In response to your points about the owners vision, sometime ago the Express and Star gave the club a double page spread in their newspaper and a video was made. This may answer some of your questions.

Without trying to give the working parties too much of a plug also, if fans can get down to help out there are people from within the club who are there at times, they're always very open with any questions asked of them and will tell supporters what is going on as much as they can. However, as fans we also need to understand that we don't have to know everything about the club and how it works. It will certainly make you feel closer to the club by getting involved and it really does help you feel part of it. There has been an awful lot of work gone on this summer and there is much more still to do. Clubs like Halesowen need as many fans as possible to help move us forward. The more fans that get involved and use the skills they have, the club we all love will only benefit. I'm of little use in the working parties by the way, I can shift stuff and paint - but even then I end up with more over me than whatever I'm painting.
