Slagging the team as "very disappointing" and "poor".

It makes my blood boil etc.

This should be interesting. The happy clappers will now have to slag off their hero for saying we were poor. Cant wait for this one.

;D

A good review by our Manager, reflecting the varying levels of performance and achievements.
I wish him every success in his closed season rebuild.

My personal view is somewhere in the middle between the 'moaners' and the 'happy clappers'. I think that performances have been well below par for a while - thank god for the good run we had earlier in the season which has kept us clear of the relegation places.

In my view the current team is good enough to stay in this league but isn't strong enough to be in contention for promotion or play offs. We have a solid defence and defend well as a team by and large but don't have the quality required - in midfield or attack - to score enough goals. I think we are too one dimensional and predictable in this regard and teams have worked out how to nullify us over the course of the season.

I think JH should be looking to keep the nucleus of the existing squad but, if he can find them/afford them, bring in one or two players with a bit more guile and skill in midfield to create some better chances for the front two. Ideally they need to be more than luxury players who can also defend well when we lose the ball. Hard to find players like this perhaps but it's what we need.

As for the front two I think their lack of goals is more due to having to feed on scraps that anything else. Iyseden is getting on in years and has less pace than before but I feel that his experience and know how could still be invaluable among all these young lads. Ben hasn't been on good form for most of this season but could still come good I feel. Another proven striker to take the weight off Iyseden's shoulders would be good.

The other thing is the state of the pitch - so difficult to play decent football on. Can anything be done over and above basic repairs over the close season?

Wise words, as you would expect from a Saddler.

I think John Hill is absolutely spot on. A frank assessment and shows ambitions to improve. We certainly can. While it was a good season it wasn't perfect.

I think a little naivety costs us. Hopefully with a full season at this level combined with being brutal with a number of players who aren't good enough but have been great servants and replace them with higher quality, hopefully with experience at, at least, this level. Ideally higher (budget allowing), we could aim for a serious play off push.

It's all about who's available and what money is available and whether John can attract the players we need. I guess our biggest rival in that sense is maybe Rushall, while not wishing to disrespect John Hill, I get the feeling that a local player would prefer to play under Richard Sneekes over John Hill, due to his History at Albion?

Sorry been away for a few days so a little behind.

Why would we slag off our hero !? The point is OVERALL it's been a good season, yes the last third was poor, and the first part of the season was, but that was because we were finding our feet in a higher league.

I just don't think you grasp what as you put it "The Happy Clappers" are saying.

There is a way to put things and some of you haven't got a clue how to offer constructive criticism, merely say this is crap, that is crap and that is the end of it. In other words look at the bigger picture as to what as been achieved, like what John Hill has said over the last 2 seasons.

Noooo.... ::) the point was that John had used the same words as some of us, ie 'poor' and 'disappointing'. I therefore wondered whether he would get the same treatment the rest of us who knew what we saw.
Anyway, lm happy now. Mattys back. ;D
