Re: Weve come a long way...
seriously though
how anyone can be unhappy with the way things are going is beyond me.
Look at the size of some of the teams in this league, their facilities, their budgets, if anything we're probably boxing a little above our weight at the moment, in my opinion.
Survival was always an achievement for us this season, mid table a definite bonus.

I ain't saying John Hill is good, but Superman wears John Hill pyjamas...
Of course there is room for improvement in every performance but you only have to compare us and Belper to see how we have progressed. There wasn't all that much between us 12 months ago, but now despite our current run of tricky games and lack of wins we're still streets ahead of them. The club is continuing to move forwards on and off the pitch with our crowds still steadily increasing.
Having visited FC United last night it would be great if we could do more things like them to help us move forwards, I know they're at a much bigger level than us but their model was brilliant. We have a good number of Yeltzmen and women as fans but we need more to come more weeks. As the Villa, Albion, Wolves and Blues (and dare I say Stourbr*dge) continue to struggle/stagnate we can all play our part in getting floating fans down to The Grove...

Indeed Rob, FCUM are a shining example of a fan owned club, built on the trust model, and with heavy involvement in the local community, the majority of which was common to the Yeltz Trust. Unfortunately though we just didn't have the number or volunteers coming forward to assist, and duties fell more and more upon just a few people.
It remains a hope of mine that as the club progresses on the field so supporters groups can grow off the field as well, be they in whatever form they take, whether a trust or a supporters association. Me, I remain committed to the trust model, with representation within the club hierarchy, and maybe, one day, outright supporter ownership.

The trust still currently has a legal framework in place, but with interest dropping off (unfortunately not uncommon once what opeople see as tyhe crisis has passed) and membership dropping to a point below which subscriptions covered insurance costs and other operating expenses we are effectively not active. Currently the insurance is in place, but is due for renewal in the summer - At this point a further review of status will be needed

The least that any regular at The Grove can do is to join and pay the £10 annual subscription. That at least should keep The Trust going - just in case.
