For those who went to Frickley in 1985, the afternoon was a bit, erm, fractious...

There's even a Chumblies song about it, and I think they named their cat "Frickley" when they all lived in Leeds.

Without doubt the most frightening day of all my 30 years in non league

And they say it was frightening here!

Recall the day well, thankfully survived intact but avoided all the pubs, had been there about 4 years previously so warned a few people that the local environment was not pictured postcard stuff. Understand the slag heap opposite the main stand has now been 'landscaped'!

Remember dragging a guy called Dickie White away from abloke who smacked him in the face when we were swapping around,
don't think Frickley boys had the nous to realise that Halesowen once stood on a coalfield,thank God for Maggie Thatcher!

likewise Old Git, frightening. Saw a neanderthal follow a Town supporter into the bog. The neanderthal came out, our bloke didnt. Got back to the car on their carpark to find a copper sprawled across my bonnet, bleeding from a headwound and surrounded by another five or six coppers, who told us to go to the bottom of the road and turn left rather than right to the village as the Leeds scum were waiting to attack the car. An enjoyable day ? definitely NOT.

Remember getting back from Frickley and having a bath and listened to the radio and the lead story
on the BBC NEWS was the battle at Frickley.Old Git and kenR have to concur with you, although the local derby
when a guy was stabbed caused more headlines locally.
