Play-offs

Post by wednesburystokie » 07 Apr 2014, 21:18

had a look on the interweb, but cant find the answers i'm looking for, maybe someone could help.

Newbie to this league so please excuse my ignorance.

I presume that the 4 teams in the play-offs play eachother in two 2 legged semi-finals ie. 2nd plays 5, 3rd plays 4th, and the winners of the 2 play in the final?

Is there, therefore, a neutral ground for the play-off final, or one of the semi-finalists grounds, or is the final itself 2 legged?

Nope.

2nd plays 5th at 2nds ground,
3rd plays 4th at 3rds ground, both one off games including extra time and penalties

The final is the two winners at the highest placed teams ground, same extra time and pen rules

So finishing second if not top is absolutely key

Thank you for clearing that up.

Shame the Final couldnt be played at a neutral league ground, would be a good day out for those involved.

I think it gives much better kudos to finishing as high as possible rather than playing for just 2 to 5. Plus the gates, 1105 v Chippenham in 2008 was a briilliant atmosphere

Was that the one abandoned due to rain?

I still have the ticket for the re-arrangement somewhere. Have I missed it? :o

Also would be good to be at him if in the play offs for beer and refreshments takings, although I assume a share of the gate goes to the away team.

IF we are at home in the playoffs will season ticket holders be allowed to use the spare ticket from no Eastwood game?

It'll be all pay as its deemed a cup tie plus the opposition gets a cut of it too. I imagine the Eastwood home game will be addressed another way. This is the 4th or 5th time in 24 years of watching its happened and previously free entry to a pre-season the next summer has followed. Someone from the club will be able to confirm this if you ask.

For the record, Dartford in 1992-93, Blakenall in 2001-02, Atherstone in 2003-04, Windsor and Eton 2010-11 and Andover who didn't even start the 2011-12 season, were the seasons we were one home match short.

But should Leek finish 1st then away might be better against Coalville. 2 away wins compared with 2 home defeats in the last 2 seasons - I think. Over to you LLL

When you get to the play offs, they're one off matches and league form often goes out of the window ?
