What the revenue figures are likely to miss is that the income needs to also support a contribution towards the replacement of the pitch at the end of its useful life, and that maintenance needs to be offset against the revenue. As has been pointed out on the forum elsewhere, there are huge water run-off costs associated with a facility like this.

I don't think its a coincidence that the only businesses that have been able to make these facilities viable is places like Goals and PowerLeague that have big units with a number of small pitches and have used these to organise things like 6-a-side leagues. In cases like this the £150+/hour cost of floodlights can be shared across several smaller revenue units ie 3-4 smaller pitches.

I remain to be convinced that a full size facility can be viable without initial taxpayer funding or ongoing subsidy (possibly both)

Agree with you completely, replacement costs should be thoroughly considered.

Its not just the cost the floodlights, staff, initial outlay, run off water costs, upkeep etc. Major factor is replacement costs.

Estimates show they cost between £450k-£600k to install but grants may be sourced for some of this.

Maintenance for 8k-15k per annum.

Normally last between 8-10 years but this is defendant on maintenance and use.

Replacement costs are around £150k I believe.

Have I got that completely wrong? Not sure.

Guesty, you aren't far off. We had a quote for £350K to have a 4G installed.

Renting out in the day is where the serious money can be made, as no floodlights needed.

I believe the going rate for games is £70 (without floodlights)

I believe Sutton made the money to have it redone within the 1st 12 months

What's the difference between 3G / 4G?

I take it from that, that the club have looked into it then?

It's not something I'm against, but I like grass! :)

4G is better quality that 3G and can have other sports, I believe there is now a 5G available.

My understanding is that the government have issued some licences for parts of the 5G signal spectrum, but until 4G is more widely adopted, the likes of Vodafone and EE are not intending to market any 5G service offerings. I have not used 4G myself as my phone is coal powered

A bit before Raidens time Mr Doc . I'd be totally against any ' plastic pitch ', however good they are now, they must n't be allowed to replace grass and mud. It is bad enough going to Sutton twice in a season to watch players being unable to control or keep up with the ball continually bouncing away. I could n't put up with that every home match.

Why can't they come up with better names. 6G? Let's be a bit more creative!
