Open Forum - Feedback Part 4

Sorry this is taken a few updates folks. Laptop has broken so I'm typing up on the tablet...
Colin continued...
Should we reach the play offs that in itself generates finance. In the coming weeks we have Belper, Chasetown, Coalville and Leek if we keep winning the crowds will come. Money is coming into the place from this place (James Grove Lounge) because people have put money into the place. Not that the Yeltz bar can be faulted because just as the football club were left in a mess, so were they. They can't really give us the money. Years ago, from the social club we were getting £x more per year.
John Slater and Steve then mentioned that the building work of Dave Smith over six weeks in the summer and a contact of Mikes who completed the work of completing the bar. John then mentioned that the funding of the bar has not come from the football club after one person mentioned to him that 'the club should be spending on the team and not the bar'. With the building being fully licensed Steve has the opportunity to now use the bar as a function room.
Colin spoke again of how we need to be able to compete financially as he knows teams below us will strengthen in January.
A question to Ben: it's been a great to see you behind the goals with the fans at Sutton in the last two games, kicking every ball and jumping over the fence to celebrate at the end with your teammates at the end, but have you actually learned anything by being there?
"Yeah, I hate it. To be honest I've just been willing the lads on and they've done great. I was telling the wife how I've rarely had injuries and never really had to watch before but it was quite nervous towards the end and I was wanting the whistle to go. I think it shows how close we are as a team and whether you're playing or on the bench we're all just wanting us to win. It doesn't matter really who is playing. I'd obviously rather be playing but standing with the fans has been a laugh, listening to the banter."
Colin spoke of last Saturday at Sutton, explaining he has received a couple of phone calls from the Sutton Coldfield chairman apologising about the behaviour of the person who caused problems, particularly to Joe Hull and his family. The SCTFC chairman passed his apologies onto Joe's family. SCTFC are dealing with the person, but he will never be allowed at their club again.

Question/comment
You mention how other clubs are looking to strengthen, we've seen in higher levels of football that buying players isn't always the answer. If we can keep this spirit among these players that may prove better than bringing in players, maybe who don't want to as you call it 'put a shift in'. I'm still pretty optimistic and think we play decent football and as the pitches get worse we have points in the bag. Often its team spirit that will see us through.
Colin agreed and joked he was merely 'trying to get more money out of us'.
Question...
Many have commented about how great things are, and congratulations on the work so far, but with a week to Christmas, if JH had the chance to bring in one player to improve us, who would it be and what position would it be?
At this point someone joked..'another keeper'
JH: We're always on the lookout for any player in any position, but someone asked me a question on twitter the same question. If there is one lad I could have back tomorrow it would be Tom Warmer. Tom did great for us, I've known him a long, long time. We changed his game to suit us. He's always been the type who has taken the ball off the full backs and played expansive football. We changed him to make him rat around more. At this level I'd have him back no problem. He moved to Denmark to teach with his wife and we helped him find a club out there.
Question/comment
Unlike many in the room, i'm very new to following HTFC having watched professional football for many years. The one thing I've enjoyed about coming down here apart from the team spirit, camorade, fitness etc is how refreshing it is to see the lads giving their absolute all on the pitch every week and two guys on the sidelines with Trevor jumping around like a loony and John calmly scratching his chin. Not so much a question really, but like many I speak to down here just keep up the great work that is going on, if the only thing we really have to moan or complain about is the fact we have three quality keepers in the squad it shows really what a great job is being done.
Question
Obviously things are moving forwards nicely with this bar, has there been any animosity with the Yeltz bar?
Steve responded ' I don't know, I haven't been in there'. The whole idea of the club is to generate money for the club when there is no football on. Whether it be from a birthday party, wedding reception, wake or whatever. Every penny that comes in helps the football club. It is hereto be used. In the past the only money that came into the club was from gate money, sponsorship and donations. A club like us, can't just survive on that. We were losing £x per year.
This place has to run as a business, cover its bills and get everyone spreading the word about it to generate finances for the club. From April, to when the season starts the room could be booked out every weekend. That could set the club up that we're not having to scrimp and save at the start of the season. The room is there to be utilised for the people in the community. To generate income for HTFC. Mike added, the more money we generate the better it will be in terms of getting better players on the pitch.
Steve continued...the target is getting out of this division. 99% of our attendance is made up by home supporters, should we go up, more people will come through the gate, more people will spend in the bar.
Final installment tomorrow folks...
