Ode to Ben

Alan Clarke could smell a goal
So ‘sniffer’ he became
Lineaker was similar
Paul Joinson was the same

Yet since the days of he and Lee
Many more have tried
To fill the scoring boots of them
To wear the shirt with pride

Stevie Piearce and Evron Wright
The best we’ve had since then
Simply could not lace the boots
Of our current number ten

Goals, he can’t stop scoring
Defences he drives mad
Absolutely gives his all
And such a smashing lad

Prior to getting married
He took one in the eye
Oh my god, the honeymoon
What if he could not fly?

Thankfully though all went well
And now we're very keen
To see once more the team we love
Feed our goal machine

Soon the opposition fans
Will ask us once again
Who’s that lad that’s trouncing us
That’s number ten, OUR BENImage

I agree with that! Fantastic poetry but any chance you can use it to create a terrace song? Can't believe Ben hasn't got his own song yet :-\

I think the poetry shows great skill.

Agree with above need to come up with a chant!

Not great poetry as Bobble has observed, but it's a bit of a laugh. We used to have some very good chant makers to all sorts of tunes. Unfortunately not many of them go anymore. :( Time for new people to step up to the plate, could be fun.
