What would be great but realise it's difficult / expensive
To have someone at the game who would provide constant updates, literally every 5 mins or something. Kinda like the BBC live text commentary - if anyone is familiar with that?
Like I say in the title it would be difficult to employ. But it's kinda horrible (in a not knowing what's happening way!) not being at the game and not having an idea as to how we're playing or doing. I know people do a good job of putting the goal updates on etc, both on here and on Facebook - and it's very much appreciated both home and away (especially the away games). But I kinda like the idea of more detailed match day threads / updates!

Re: What would be great but realise it's difficult / expensi
I see where you are coming from but its just physically impossible. I was trying to sell programmes on Saturday whilst updating facebook/twitter etc and I get loads of phone calls prior to the game asking where stuff is etc, have we done this, where is so and so. Just don't have the time.
I'm against updating every couple of mins etc, a lot of other clubs do it. But people in the past have got in trouble, for example when there is a contentious decision and someone puts something they shouldn't.
I think by not posting every match minute update on twitter it encourages people to come to the games etc to see for themselves, its also expensive for me. If someone wishes to pay my mobile phone bills/data charges then be my guest.
Not only that I normally come away from games and spend an hour or two updating the website which is a lot already. After everything I do for the club I would like to actually watch 90mins of a game rather than spend it looking at my phone. Not trying to sound harsh, its just the reality.

If I knew how, I would most certainly make a Halesowen Town FC app for Android and iPhone. Problem is though, the compromise would be make it a paid app or make it a free app and incorporate thousands of ads.
I think this is a good idea, I will try and do it more on the West Midlands Non League Football Page (On Facebook) if that is something you would like?

Yeltz 85 I meant no offence to current systems at all. I wasn't having a moan or slating anyone / anything. Apologies.
I can see how it would potentially prevent people coming also, but personally if I'm out and about I constantly check here, Facebook and Twitter for score updates. Would love constant min by min or the like, just to keep up to date.
Maybe if this sort of thing was to ever take off maybe have a sign up fee to cover any potential losses by people not attending. With Season tick holders get the service for free.
Just an idea, no ill harm was meant.

Re: What would be great but realise it's difficult / expensi
Personally speaking I can't go to Kidsgrove tomorrow but I will be happy with any kind of updates people can and are willing/able to provide! Whilst I agree that the minute by minute stuff sounds good it would be a lot to ask in my opinion and in practical terms were this to occur how much of the game would the person doing the updates actually see. In my experience when I have looked at various places for updates and scores at this level they tend only to be either updates in conjunction with newspapers or updates via twitter or whatever when anything of note happens i.e. goals and substitutions or bookings etc and I'm quite happy with that or basically whatever anyone is willing to provide. In conclusion I feel the minute by minute stuff is nice idea but probably impractical so as I said I'm just happy with whatever people are willing to provide in terms of gold updates, incidents of note Ie bookings or substitutions whenever they occur and occasionally comments related to how we are playing. Let's face it if it were a dull game minute by minute updates would be boring to read in any case!

I know you meant no harm mate. I have no issue in someone doing an unofficial feed.RaidenYeltz wrote:Yeltz 85 I meant no offence to current systems at all. I wasn't having a moan or slating anyone / anything. Apologies.

I have set up the Facebook/Twitter and Website all from scratch. Will continue to develop them over time also. I am looking no to making an app also very soon.

I really like the idea but the feasibility is really the issue I guess.

One game last season I was updating my mates by text of our goal and missed the opposition going straight up the other end and scoring.
I too like more updates on the odd occasion I can't make a game but it is unrealistic to expect those there to update regularly here. I appreciate what people do normally John Bud or Yeltz Doc (forgive me if I have missed someone).

How about the possibility of rigging up a camcorder to video the game and linking it up to the website as a live feed/stream? Just an idea...

Great idea! I sometimes take my camera down to The Grove for some practice in my filming. I'll find out how to do YouTube live and maybe I could put it on there?Akschizoidman wrote:How about the possibility of rigging up a camcorder to video the game and linking it up to the website as a live feed/stream?
