THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SUNFIELD
(A RESIDENTIAL SPECIAL SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH COMPLEX LEARNING NEEDS)
Sunfield would like to thank Halesowen Town Football Club and their supporter’s organisation, The Yeltz Trust, for inviting some of our children to last Saturdays game (27/04/13) and for raising money to support our charity.
Sunfield is based in the village of Clent, just a few miles from Halesowen. It was established in the 1930s and has been at the forefront of special needs education and care for many years. Names such as Nordoff and Robbins (famous for their Music Therapy) met and originally worked at Sunfield and many of the techniques and services which have been developed here over the years have since been replicated by other similar organisations across the UK and overseas.
Today, Sunfield is still one of the country’s leading independent providers of education and residential care for children who have complex learning needs and we offer specialist provision for children whose needs fall within the autism spectrum and for those with challenging behaviour. Our services include education and 52 week residential care, day school placements, outreach, assessment, psychology, therapies, family services, and professional development training.
Sunfield does not receive any government grants to help with the development of its facilities or services and so all the necessary funding has to be raised through donations.
With the help of our supporters, including celebrity patrons Jasper Carrott, Adrian Chiles and Josie Lawrence, we were able to build new educational facilities in 2009 at a cost of almost £3million and, following a further fundraising appeal, we were then able to create a new range of specialised Sensory Integration Therapy resources.
We are now appealing for help with the costs of modernising our residential accommodation for the children who live at Sunfield. We have just completed a major reconfiguration and refurbishment of Birch House at a cost almost £300,000, which was fully funded through donations, but we now need to refurbish additional houses.
The current project, Orchard House will cost £170,000 to extend, fully refurbish and equip and we have currently raised £121,000 towards this target, leaving us with a further £49,000 to raise. We are therefore delighted to have the support of Halesowen Town FC and the Yeltz Trust.
If you would also like to support our appeal, you can donate in one of the following ways:
