Start of the season
Does any one else feel that starting the non-league season at the end of July a good idea. We've got a lot of games to get through ,and we have'nt realy had much of a cup run. I know this is an unusally bad winter/spring. I think it would help the players by spreading out the fixtures an extra couple of weeks

Re: Start of the season
The problem there is that there would be an extra 3 weeks wages, and trust me on this, at this level that is enough to send quite a few clubs under.Carlin wrote:Does any one else feel that starting the non-league season at the end of July a good idea. This is also why most leagues make clubs do silly things in the last few weeks of the season playing day after day.
In fact, if you were to take a poll of club administrators whether they wanted the season one week longer or one week shorter I know where my money would go !!!

Summer is short enough/non existent already. Don't try and shorten it even more!

Re: Start of the season
Starting earlier would also cause more problems for any teams who share a Cricket pitch!
Wonder who that would affect?

Re: Start of the season
Sorry to digress, but why does the footy have a break in the SUMMER? Is this from the olden days when ZeeZee & Sprout had hair and oldgit was still in his 30s and the players then went to the seaside?
I only ask because I'm a bit bored of being cold at away games (don't ask why I don't get cold at The Grove, thought that was obvious)

In one breath he slags off the league for extending the season on the basis that clubs can't afford the extra weeks wages........and then his solution is to start the season a week early !!!! Perhaps he thinks the players are as daft as he is and won't notice if their not paid for the extra week if it is at the start rather than the end !!!
