The much talked about Aaron Opoku has signed for Matlock Town.

I liked Kyle Finn and was keen for him to stay, however, I did suspect he might be one of the ones to depart. Same with Robbie Bunn.

Bit of guessing to who plays where out the new folk - I think Quaynor is a left back, which might free up Mini Mac to play centre mid more often. Anyone know what type of midfielder Hayward is? I gathered he wore the 4 vest at Bromsgrove so suspect he's a swap for Hawker's position/role?

I'd like to see Evans, McCone and Birch retained (plus a spare full back - Ezewele or Wright?) and I reckon we'll have the a very strong platform for next season.

The focus for me would be to bring in a quality ball-playing centre mid who can unlock defences. Ideally someone who's played at a higher level (scared to say it but possibly ex-pro). Paul Harding-esque.
My feeling is that for all I’d have liked Hawker, Finn, Bunn, (and presumably Holmes) to stay, there’s ultimately a reason we finished third and these players (Bunn second spell excepted) who tended to go missing when we weren’t at it.

A smidgen concerned the three we’ve brought in are all 30, but our average age is still about ten years younger than Ilkeston’s so can’t grumble!

Ah the fallacy of football....get to 30 and youre on the slope to being past it....
Good points you raise and I agree. All good players, all gone to higher levels, but as part of a team that didnt quite cut it...

And can only be good when season tickets are released. Should encourage more people to purchase thus giving club more funds to entice players
When are the tickets usually released? I got a flexi last year but cant remember when. Definitely go down that route again.
I suspect normally at the beginning of June?

I think last season they were released much earlier due to covid cash flow issues? I could be completely wrong, and my memory is failing me, but it does ring a bell.
Nowt wrong with your memory then 😁
