To be fair to charlieboy, I think the point he is trying to get across is that the pitch is actually worse now then the end of the season because the club brought soil full of rocks, boulders, glass, broken crockery etc and now the volunteers going are spending all their time picking it all up instead of doing the usual painting, weeding etc... The point is, if the club could of found the funds to get professionals to do the pitch the volunteers could concentrate on other ground maintenance... Hence why we need to get volunteers downtremelo wrote:My first post. I shouldn't rise to the bait but this charlieboy character is doing my head in. Why do ask we're the owner is? If you were there you would know.why don't you go to the ground and find out. A non league football club doesn't run itself, you can't throw money at everything if the money isn't there. If there where more ants and Sheila's and less charlieboys maybe a bit more progress would be made. Just my thoughts.

Re: Working Parties
Just come back from the Grove, pitch is now all cut, my arms have stopped shaking from the mower, and a fair amount of re-seeding is taking place.
Turfing to the goalmouths will be taking place this week, and although there is still more than enough to do, it is 100% better than last week.
Colin Brookes was there, Morrison's bag in hand picking up debris from the pitch.
Would be good to see a good few of us there Tuesday, commitments permitting.

Re: Working Parties
Just got back from another mini shift. I was there last on Saturday lunchtime and it was much improved then, but there is a noticeable difference now tonight after Sunday and tonights work. Not many of us there tonight but hopefully a good number will be there on Thursday and the weekend.
I have to mention Colin Brookes, there again tonight picking up stones off the pitch for the best part of two hours. The man is an absolute credit to this football club. With all due respect though, at his age he shouldn't be doing that, nevermind the fact he is chairman. He was though, because he cares dearly about this football club.
Please, over the next couple of weeks or so try and give just a couple of hours to do some grass cutting, weeding, strimming, painting or whatever to help Ant at the ground on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays

I should be there tomorrow, if only for a short while, helping a mate out down the Power League at 8!
