A couple of positives we wont have to go to Grantham athletic club with a pitch some distance in the middle (worse than Goole) and also retain all four wheels on car as no trip to Corby.

13 new grounds for me.

Season ticket purchased for M5, M1 and A14 which by the way they are doing major road works for years near Kettering 40 mph.

I think all-in-all after initial disappointment, it's not that bad:

Travelling distances are a little further, but a lot quicker due to M5, as Guesty already stated
Stand a better chance of finishing higher in the league
Some top weekends away
Play Stourbr*dge (liking Raiden's 'itinary'!)

Surely it's all about finishing as high as we can?

Feel sorry for the Yeltz stalwarts who were looking forward to some new grounds though

I am sure even for the stalwarts there are some new grounds and teams.

Raiden may not be allowed in sourbridge if they employee the same bouncer from the night club who refused him entry after Belper via James Grove Lounge (a few more) and Yeltz Bar (just topping up). ;)

I would have thought he would have gone 9 to sourbridge, spoons for breakfast and at least one drink in every pub on the way to the ground.

Also season kicks off Saturday 9th August.

I could be wrong but I reckon there are only 3 new opponents:

Arlesey
Frome
Slough

Also never played at St Neots and there are quite a few we only played in the one season in the Southern S & W 2 seasons back. E.g Paulton, Hungerford, Bideford

Aside from FC Utd and Chorley who were promoted, crowds are similar overall in the Calor League. Personally I think it is a bit tougher than the Evostik.

I'm really looking forward to the away trips in the Southern League again although I equally wanted to visit the new grounds in them Northern Premier. The M5 is a more pleasant journey and if, Merthyr could have won their playoffs, the M50 is even better.
10 new grounds for me next season but also some very familiar ones to return to. Truro is a very long journey and I remember :
14/11/2009 TRURO CITY A 429 2 1 BUSSEY CONNOR MORLEY EZE HOOD BREWARD JOHNSON S* DENNY MOORE# GRIFFITHS RICKARDS O'BRIEN
There'd been violent storms all through the Friday and into the Saturday, I remember ringing Manager Matty Clarke to check the game was still on. Great game eventually and well worth making the trip.
Bideford is deceivingly very long too.
Unfortunately the Southern League seemed not to be as flexible as the Northern with fixtures rearrangements. Longer trips usually originally scheduled for a Saturday (often in winter) but if they're postponed a midweek south coast venture then is necessary.
BRING OT ON!! #uptheyeltz
