Stuart Halls Budget 3-4 times that of john Morris,in the end We overpaid and it nearly cost the club.

Its like everything now with non league football its all about budget,so Really you can't compare manager from manger,Out budget now must be high up in this league so we should do well,Not get to a semi final of the trophy well but its all subjective and unless you know what goes on behind the scenes at every club its so hard to compare.

To be honest it's not my business to know what goes on behind the scenes and budgets but I take your point. As long as it's all honest and above board with a good level of communication, I'm happy. All I look for is the best football we can play with the best players we can afford for the maximum enjoyment possible. Whichever managers can provide that and still be great ambassadors for the club are the ones that will be remembered.

After much debate, but I think we we're all happy with the top 3 in the end :)

Following on from this debate there is a good read on the Southern League site from a Rushden point of view about the 95/6 season. There were some top draw sides in that division and for us to finish second with 91 points was IMO our best ever campaign.
Can't find how to link it with my phone, maybe somebody can.

The article also called us “Derek Beasley’s side” :o

It is a good read though, I’d forgotten Rushden signed a forward for £85,000 just before we beat them. As unbelievable 20 odd years later as it was then.

Cheers Poll. I had to read and reread that Beasley bit as well! Never mind, good article. 5 of the sides we played finished up in the football league! It so could have been us....

I remember coming away from the away match at Stafford in the middle of February and despairing we weren't getting any where ……. we didn't lose again! That away win at Crawley, it was always good to see us win there but that one was very special.
In the end, so near but so far ……
