The sensible and rational side of me agrees with the postponement of the leagues, and wouldn't argue with non league authorities, if they too postponed the league. It goes without saying that some things in life are more important than football. The health and safety of our community and loved ones, is of course, more important than 22 players on a football pitch.

The football fan side of me, who is loving this season and loving watching this team, is frankly, pissed off. I just can't believe the absolute shithousery of suffering year after year of absolute dross, like we have, over the past 5 or so years, to then, finally have a brilliant season like the current one, more or less stamped out.

I'm deflated right now, and I'm questioning whether I want to bother with football again now, if and when this virus calms down. What's the point?

We're on the verge of such a special season, arguably the best in our entire history, and it won't mean fuck all, in the history books.

Frustrated and down.

If this really is the end of our season then Presumably FA and SL have specific rules for such a case. Worst case is voiding the season - same division next time , never a Trophy semi-finalist officially either. Let's hope we get better than that if it comes down to it.

Fair to say this was not the ending to the season that any of us expected!

My guess is that, at the top level, the Euros will be cancelled and then the domestic leagues will be allowed to stretch into June/July to play the remaining games. So I don't think the season is "cancelled" but just being suspended until the situation recovers.

I would assume that non-league will unfortunately follow suit. I'd half expect there to be an announcement today regarding tomorrow's fixtures. Sadly I'm almost certain that our semi-final won't happen next week now either.

That all said, it's hard to know exactly when this will all be resolved and, if it is a couple of months from now (which I don't think is too improbable), then it would make completing the league season very difficult. But we will see.

I started this thread pondering on whether we'd get all our games played in time for April but seems like we may not be playing very many at all!

Better to play no football untill 01-04 ! This is the Dutch FA advise : “We advise all amateur associations not to organize training, practice matches or other large gatherings. We hope to understand this difficult decision and the cooperation of all clubs to jointly complete the competitions. In the coming period we will think about a good solution for us

As per normal Southern League practice, the end of April is sacrosanct for the end of the season. I suspect that their suspension is likely to be extended in any case because it much shorter than I would have expected

I would have thought with the predicted/planned stretching out of the virus into the summer months, then there would not be much chance of postponed fixtures ever being played. A shame but with many vulnerable people out there and looking at current situations in some European countries now, I guess it makes sense whether we like it or not.

As most National League teams only get small attendances(we saw Barnet and Halifax numbers) I think for now this is the correct decision and one the Southern League should have followed then see what develops later in the weekend and the start of next week.
